Outlook Shelved!
Re: Outlook Shelved!
I have a hard time believing they would cancel this.... especially when it is so close to debut... I mean, all the work and tooling has to be basically done, right?
That's a lot of money to just say.... "Um.... nah, we don't wanna do that now."
Plus, it's not like it's not sharing a platform with anything else.
The only thing (seen to the general public, anyway) that might show an indication that they are rethinking this is that they have shown the Buick Enclave, and not the Saturn Outlook at the auto shows... I mentioned this here not long after the Enclave was shown and not the Outlook, mentioning I thought it was odd that the Outlook is due out first, but they chose to show off the further-away Enclave at the Shows. (maybe I should get some "scoop credit"?
)

Re: Outlook Shelved!
The more I think about this whole thing, the more I have to raise the
flag.
I simply cannot believe they would pay for everything up to the brink of production... on a vehicle that is smack in the middle of a segment that GM has been touting as being so huge....
At worst , I could see a slight delay in launch..... whether it be for supplier issues, initial factory setup issues, quality control issues (get it right at launch), or maybe even because so many resources have been pushed to fast-tracking of the GMT-900 launch, that they are running a little thin as far as another rollout at this point.
I fully expect Outlook to make production.

Perhaps instead of coming down on Josh you should emphasize that everyone makes mistakes and he took a risk and when GM asked for the story to be removed he did it. Just like GMI and many other sites would have done had they gotten the same information.

Re: Outlook Shelved!
Glad to hear that Outlook's demise was overstated.
Like I mentioned, it's too close to production to cancel it outright. The only possible logic in all this is that GM decided that a crossover that big better fit Chevrolet instead of Saturn or that there were so many cosmetic parts Outlook shared with other versions that cancelling it cost nothing.

Re: Outlook Shelved!
We will see in a few weeks. Of course GM is going to do some damage control right now, it just pisses me off that people discredit a news story because we removed it due to GM's own wishes.
Everybody is entitled to his/her own opinions but I guess we will have to wait to see who is really right.

Re: Outlook Shelved!
We have all made mistakes. I have no clue what info Josh had....but if it is news, and relevent...it is hard not to post it when you run such a website. That is why I have a rumor mill section and label anything I am not 100% sure about as a rumor.
That being said....don't come down on Josh...in the end he was just trying to provide everyone with the news they desire around here. Somthing like this is probaly a nightmare senerio for him anyway. Even if he made a mistake I am pretty sure it won't happen again after the overzeolous brow beating he has taken for it.
