Yeah but Regal is out now in China. Insignia has been out for over a year. This isn't a car being built from the ground up. EPII Impala is just Chevys Lacrosse. Most of the engineering is done, it just needs a different interior and exterior pieces.

Same old GM, hoping for meaningful volume and profit from over-large, FWD-based, sedans.

That could only be answered by asking whether GM has a turbo V6 in the pipeline. I haven't heard anything about it.

Right, forgot about that one. I would assume it will be the top engine - I'm a bit skeptical how successful it will be however.

I wouldn't expect to see that engine in the Espilon Cadillac.

The V8 engine outside of high performance vehicles, high buck cars, and pickups is going away.

GM will make money on this FWD Cadillac.

When you're bankrupt, making money is your number 1 priority.

With all the recent news about Cadillac, it does seem like they have given up on being a BMW MB competitor and are now slipping back to being what they were ten years ago, which is just a domestic luxury brand for a different customer.

Yeah............... and with another new name that noone knows.

AUGH !!!!! I hate that (and hate is not a word I like to use).

Why could they not call it the DTSX? This way, it would designate another model of the DTS line.

Has GM not figured out, yet, how much money it costs to get the public to accept, and trust, a new name?

2013 till the new Impala. Yikes. The new Taurus will be having a major MCE before/by then.

Alot depends on who ends up running Cadillac. I hope they pick a stud and not a gelding.

I guess Fritz hasn't gotten rid of the Automotive Strategy Board yet. They need a few more meetings?

Not many RWD sedans have meaningful volume. Look at the G8. 3600 units last month with tons of incentives. The Impala was over 14k units.

Most won't know or care about FWD vs. RWD. Most people want sedans. Most people want fuel efficiency. This meets those needs. And, it will make them profit.

Sounds like Cadillac is turning back into a warmed over Buick division, save for the CTS......very sad! How long before the V-series is gone?

Impala is GMs bread and butter car I can't believe they are going to let it rot on the vine for that long. If plans were left alone we would only be a few months away from a nice RWD Impala.
