Oh what the heck, a Firebird poll.

Re: Oh what the heck, a Firebird poll.
I think IF it returns, it will be b/c of a successful Camaro, and it should remain as it began, a reskinned sibling...a little flashier...visually closer to the Vette.
The formula has been the same for both, and responsible for the success of both, it will be the same if it returns.
But I love the idea of a mid-size V6 RWD turbo coupe, could the G6 take a turn for this? And could the sedan remain FWD at the same time??

"Camaro clone" isn't quite accurate. How about a Firebird true to its heritage sharing the same platform as Camaro. The Firebird line has plenty of history all its own that it wouldn't just be a me-too Camaro.
If the same platform can sprout Cobalts and Ions and HHRs (all with similar powertrains), I think GM can manage two distinct pony cars in this new golden era of performance.

I think Mazda's Kabura concept is very interesting. It's a small 2+2, 3 door, RWD coupe...based on the Miata's platform. If produced, it will be priced to compete with the Scion tC.
Yes, very interesting.

How about, None of the above.
The Firebird can comback as a mechanical clone to the Camaro, but have different enough body work so that people don't say it's a clone of the Camaro.
Any other option is unacceptable!

Another woefully worded poll, eh?
How about RWD V8 pony car instead of "Camaro Clone"?
FWIW, I wouldn't mind seeing the AWD option on Firebird... I mentioned that a long time ago... modern styling and available AWD on the RWD V8 platform. I like it.

The poll options and wording are very telling about your opinion.
Out of those options, I picked "be left dead" but the one I would have voted for is a rwd V8 powered Firebird based off the same platform as the Camaro with an all modern design inside and out.

Re: Oh what the heck, a Firebird poll.
How about the Firebird replacing the GTO in Pontiac's lineup? Othewise, Pontiac doesn't need nor can it afford both.

Well the Firebird really can't go upscale from the Camaro because that is were the GTO is. It would probably be better for GM to have a 2+2 Kappa to fill the slot below the Camaro and GTO. That would also give Pontiac a cheaper performance car for those that need more than 2 seats.

Re: Oh what the heck, a Firebird poll.
I choose "other".
A Zeta based coupe is alright with me. Perhaps with AWD or quad coupe doors to separate it from Camaro.
The GTO is a fine car too though, and it sounds like it's going to be the one coming back after a year or few so nap.
