I would think flat 13's. The 300C SRT8 sedan with the same engine and a 5spd auto does 13.2 seconds in the 1/4 mile. The challenger looks very heavy, but i would think that it would atleast be 100lbs less than the 300CSRT8 sedan, and the T56 6spd has got to be good for something. So i think a flat 13.0 would be what they meant.

Re: Official Challenger press release and specs

Since this is the only challenger thread up right now. Has anyone seen the interior pics? I dont want to hear anything about the interior of the Camaro being ugly anymore. And the dodge is supposed to be close to production ready even... I dont like it.

Interior shot. Click on the small pic for a larger one. It is VERY plain...too plain.

One of the car mags that featured it this month said that they shortened the wheelbase as much as possible for LX.

Maybe if production version is off LY (Is that right?) and the Challenger is in the program from the beginning they could shorten the car a little more for production and then make it a bit smaller all the way 'round on the outside while keeping the muscular stance.

Looking at the pictures, I think that number must include 1/2 the diameter of a tire. After all, the rear overhang is a bit more than the front, and the difference between wheelbase and length is a bit over 80 inches. So subtract about 13 or 14 inches, and it's more like 24 inches, which is reasonable.

Re: Official Challenger press release and specs

I was at the puny San Jose auto show this past Saturday. The relevance to this thread is that they had the old Chrysler Airflite concept there. That concept also had a 116" wheelbase, just like the Challenger. However, overall length was 189" (as I recall), which is about what the Challenger would have been without the extra front overhang.

I don't think a little extra overhang weighs all that much. It can be thin, lightweight metal. On the other hand, I'm guessing that one of the reasons that the Airflite never came to be is that it weighed nearly as much (and cost about the same to build) as a 300/Charger.

Too bad. I'd like to see a RWD Stratus/Sebring. Would anyone like to see a Dodge Coronet/Chrysler Satellite?

I like the interior design shown in the pic above. The more I see of this car the more I like it.

425 hp, "official" 4.5 sec 0-60 but they are guessing in the 13s for the quarter mile? I doubt it. I'm guessing high 12s since that 0-60 is c5 z06 fast. Although, they said the concept has much fatter tires than what will actually be on the final release, so the final product may be slower because it will not get as good of traction.
