There's just no object in having a Firebird anymore. Let the Camaro and Chevrolet do what it does best and let Pontiac and the GTO do their thing.

Few can say that they're happy the Firebird is gone...
The only hope I have from this mess is that GM treats the Camaro more like the Firebird. More styling changes through the model years and desirable limited production performance editions. The Bird, even in the 4th generation, totally outdid the Camaro in terms of both these categories.

In my opinion, the Firebird has always looked better to me than a Camaro. The 98+ 4th gen WS6 Trans Am was the most menacing looking car on the road!
I don't think anyone is bashing Firebird as much as bashing the idea of a Firebird as badge-engineered Camaro (albeit with power antenna). Yes, that's what it was originally, but it had a unique engine at least. GM has discovered that it needs to reduce duplicative efforts to save money and make the remaining models better. It's sad (I thought the Intrigue was the best looking W-body), but it's the way it is.
