Like graham said, that is a waste of tax-payer dollars. 225/60/16" tires are relitivly cheap. Police package is all about function, that is why they have the steel rims and/or hub caps instead of chrome wheels. I'd rather have my local police tax dollars going into better training or equipment instead of huge rims and gas hungry engines.

Tires are not a issue, just about every police agency in the country has a nice contract with Goodyear

But to be the industry standard like the Crown Vic = NO. If I walked into a Ford lot to buy a car and saw a Crown Vic sitting there - No Way. Even thought it's probably not a bad car. I think people want something "individualistic" when they buy a car. They don't want to have the same car as every towns police force. Or maybe it's just me. The ONLY benefit is driving down the interstate people would probably get over for you - especially if it was white... LOL

Another thing is that the Charger has 340 horses. That erases alot of blandness.
Ford ran fox Mustangs ran for 14 years! It wasn't exactly an "indiviualistic car" 4 years into production, let alone 14.

I think police pkg. cars should mostly be about performance and heavy duty construction. In most cases the more tire you have under your car the better, to enhance handling. The old Caprice 9C1 handled pretty good, but the Impala SS handled a lot better with 17"s and low profile tires, even though the 9C1 had a stiffer suspension set up with Bilstein shocks. Of course back in the mid-90s 17"s were a bit rare on cars, but now its a common wheel size. I think the new '06 Impala 9C1 would see some benefit with larger wheels, but it would take a lot more than wheels to make the Impala out perform the Charger.
