So let me get this straight.....

Only a 2.2 140hp or a 2.0 S/C

No 2.4L at all?

This is beyond stupid if true. A N/A SS is a nice gap between the two, in both price and perfromance. While the idea of a S/C 2.0 is nice I don't want to blow 30K on one (CDN$)--a 24K ish 2.4L SS coupe seemed nicer on the pocketbook.

I have no problem with a SS and SC/SS.

And LT sounds dumb. Probably won't look sporty at all and be lucky to have 16's, with no handling package. I was thinking of a 4 door NA SS with 17's for the gf next car.

The Coblat promised a very diverse model lineup but not anymore.

Not a chance. I have no idea what Chevys reasons are but am sure they had nothing to do with the SVT Focus cancellation.
Remember--all of SVT is on hiatus. (GT is an SVT product though)

you got that right. Only a 2.2 and a 2.0L s/c

This is what GM had listed April 1st 2004. Now they dont even have the SS in a Sedan, only 2dr.

As long as we get word of the "Z" before we can begin ordering "C-SS"es, and as long as the "Z" comes within 12-24 months after the return of the "C", I will be happy... and waiting.

Can we please stop with the "C" and the "Z" bs?

say it with me...Camaro...Z28... Camaro...Z28.

Soooo if the SS is going to get an engine that no other model inthe line up will get, what is gunna go on with the SS and Z28? Will the SS Camaro be like the rest of the SS line and be the top performance model, or will the Z rule fix that? Its kind of odd to do a 180 from the rest of the line up.
If there is an SS model, then that seems to be the higher performance, no matter what history said.
Not saying that SS>Z28, but with the way things are shapping up, and Chevy kind of priding its rep on the SS cars, (SS concept, SSR, SS Silvy, SS Cobalt, SS Monte, SS Impy)... it just seems a little tough to think that the SS wont be the top performance car.

and the 2.4 will be available when the engine comes on line later next year. There is no 2.4 for the G6 either, and as of right now the Solstice has no engine. Thats probably whats holding it up.

The Corvette does not have an SS model. You can say corvette, but how about the rest of the other cars with the SS? There are no Z models for them?

Not saying that I dont want the Z be the top performance model, but if there is an SS model in Chevy's line up...that seems to be top.

I'd like to see the 2.4 engine offered on the base car cause I think that would be somewhat of a sleeper car with a 2.4 in it. Also you could probally get it for a reasonable price if you just got the base and added the 2.4 engine. But that seems unlikley

last time I checked there is no present Vette SS that is made by GM.

I think a 2.4 Cobalt LT would make for a great car, and keep it priced along with the tC which seems to be another runner in the sport compact division.

I'm sure specifics will be leaking out on "Z" before "C-SS" hits the showroom.

Look at it this way.....you can't buy a C6 yet, but look at how much we know about Z06 already. Floating around already are specifics like 500 hp and 489 ft/lbs of torque.

I'll bet we'll have a good idea about Z/28....pretty early on. BTW, I'm thinking it'll be more like a 24 month wait. Less would of course, be better.

If Chevy does make a Z28 and SS Camaro, what is different to make people think the SS wouldn't be tops again just like during the 4thgen? Makes sense anyway, when in the past has the Z28 ever outperformed the SS (top SS model) at least straight line/general performance wise?

I'm all for dropping the weaker SS models, I have not liked the idea of that ever since I heard of it... However I wish they'd just go ahead and do the S/Ced 2.4l in the Cobalt SS...
