Most people that buy a GTO are going to know what they are looking for and the GTO has gotten quite a bit of publicity.

Should see them on the streets in Jan.

It'll be produced in close to the same number as Corvette, and they advertised that heavily on introduction. Especially considering the negative press this reincarnation has received for its styling, I'd be letting the public know just how mean and serious this car is.

Ford was going to sell a ton of F-150's regardless; that didn't stop them from advertising. Get with it GM!

They did a sneak preview of the new GTO on the xXx DVD. Its something at least. They should advertise the hell of this thing regardless of how many will be avalible. It increases showroom traffic.

It is a rule in the auto industry that you never do any serious advertising of a product before it is actually available. Teasers are fine but no commercials or print ads. The car does not actually debut until December.

Well see plenty of ads I'm sure when we closer to the release date. Hopefully GM is not stupid enough not to promote the car.

My cousin here in Houston, mentioned that he did see a GTO commercial although it was more of a teaser than anything.. He described it to me and asked if I had seen it but I didn't. I'm sure that GM would have some ads in December or January. I don't think that there would be a lot of TV spots but more print ads in MT etc.

When was the last time anyone saw any real advertising for SVT? Even Corvette will sell at least 10,000 more cars than GTO is planned, so there isn't a real need to spend anything.

But, just the same, if you don't think Pontiac is going to capitalize on the GTO as the "spokesman" of GM's performance division, you're crazy. I think we'll see GTO at least placed in the background of or mentioned in every Pontiac advertisment imaginable.

It's still very early.

You shouldn't have to advertise a car that you cannot possibly sell more than 20k units. And the SVT focus is advertised in print alot.

I think they are doing what they can so far. I mean the car hasn't made its official debut. And you can't get them yet. (You cna order then though) I would expect GM to advertise this car and get some more attention to it. I just think your asking a bit much too soon.

Remember Ford didn't advertsise the 04 F150 until they were in showrooms. Pontiac would be wise to do the same.

The Thunderbird would be a better example than SVT, the SVT models are based off f highly popular models so they get plenty of exposure without the ads. The T-Bird as advertised as a low production car and it still sold badly, too expensive and too retro. The GTO is a low production car, we'll see how it sells.
