No 6spd for MY08 GM Trucks!?
It just says the 4 speed is standard. I wonder if the 6 speed will be a late option. I think it at least needs to be offered on the 6.0L trucks.
2500's come standard with a 6speed auto 6.0L combo.
I can't believe the 4.3L is still around. Its cheap and reliable, I guess that is what is important in a base work truck.
edit: I see under Suburbans RPO's it has a 6 speed auto

It's really not a big deal.
The 4 speeds are fine.
The only reason people expect a 6 speed is because they somehow, think it is better then the 4 speed.
With GM's bullet proof auto's.....what's the problem?

The current 4 speeds in the 1/2 ton trucks are not fine. There are not designed to handle the amount of power in the currect engines. Just look at the torque management required with the 4 speeds.
I've spent some time with Ford's 6sp auto recently, and the extra ratios are really nice. Of course, it's also reinforced my opinion that GM's calibration is still better than that of the competition's.
i drove an 07 denali, and the 6 speed in that truck was nice. GM needs it in ALL of their trucks, although it is nice to know they are putting it in their HD models. Also i couldnt find anything about the 6.0 in a suburban, surely they arent using the little 5.3 for 3/4 ton models are they?
When your competitors are launching huge ad campaigns about how they have it and you don't, and it has already been developed, and you have been expecting it to be included because people have told you that is the GMT-900 direction... It sucks to see it excluded for 2 years.
The four speed hydramatics have been hampering GM vehicles' performance for some time. It's not the number of speeds per se, so much as their inability to stand up to the torque in today's engines. What's the point of building the best motors in the industry only to handcuff them with restrictive torque management to protect glass jawed trannies?
The 6spd should be stronger seeing as it is not just another modified 700r4. It is a total new design from ground up.
