Nissan U.S. September Sales Down 9 pct
DETROIT, Oct 3 (Reuters) - Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. (7201.T: Quote, NEWS, Research) on Tuesday said U.S. September sales for Nissan-branded vehicles fell 9.1 percent, while sales at its luxury Infiniti line dropped 9.8 percent.
On a combined basis, Nissan's sales were down 9.2 percent with unit sales of 88,340 compared to 93,540 a year earlier.
Nissan adjusted its sales comparisons for an additional selling day last month compared to September 2005.

Aside from that the sales figures they are reporting; 88,340 in Sept '06 vs 93,540 in Sept '05 will result in a % decline of 5.6% (88,340 less 93,540 = -5,200; 5,200 divided by 93,540 = -5.559%)...maybe they simply added wrong!!!

I dont see anything in the above statements mentioning Toyota or GM, so it should be safe to assume he is WooHooing the fact that Nissans sales are declining. I agree with him...WooHoo! I hate Nissan, so any bad news about them is good news to me.

GM sales are down 11% year to date and 3.1% in September; Toyota recorded a 25% increase in sales in September. Apparently the OP was so thrilled about Nissan's 5.6% drop that he/she missed everybody else but they are in other threads and being reported in every major financial news outlet.
