The 3rd leading cause of death and serious illness is, the Medical industry. (Pharma and Doctor/pushers)Over medicating, conflicting medications and just UN-safe medications.
Then the Insurance Cartel, milking the Life blood out of this country....a doctor must charge 3X what they need to make, in order to recieve the amount they NEED!
Without getting too involved, "an ounce of prevention is (still) worth a Pound of cure".
Less dairies and less farmers because of government bull****/growing population = you pay ton of money for groceries.

It will happen... You watch. We already import everything from everywhere, driving prices down here for the growers, eventually sense labor costs will be cheaper elsewhere, we will begin to import more, and then get screwed on price later... Towns like the one I live in are building houses on some of the best soil in the world.

Genetically modified fruits and vegetables do not cause you any harm, stop believeing that.

When you modify anything in an ecosystem, you CANNOT garantee nothing else will be affected, quite the opposite in fact. Science has proven, you cannot even study an environment without corrupting it.
We simply CANNOT improve on what our creator has made. We may improve one aspect, only to be bitten in the but by another. The utter lack of nutrition and important natural enzymes in our food is one very BAD side effect.
The only way for a farmer to survive in the near future is, to begin an Organic Farming operation, there is a HUGE emerging market for these products. And we will ALL benefit from them.
Our OLD Archaic system of Chemical land preparation, and chemical bug and disease control, is killing us over time. This is the new millinium, we need to be smarter in everything we do, and empasize the mega-profits less.
(BTW; my Dad grew up on a small dairy, before they had machinery, and later we(I) ignorantly grew, and sprayed the **** out of our Tobacco crops as per Fed mandates.(..if you want to sell it that is..)Now we (I) know better.
My great grandmother smoked "organic" tobacco since her teens, ate organic, home grown food, she lived to 104.)

Corporations are taking over the American farmers, and running them out of buisness, they just can't compete. Here locally, most farms are owned by Krogers, Meijers, even the Japanese...these farms are so massive they can under price the little man, and when a couple of bad seasons hit, farmers are forced to sell out to survive.

I would say the unavailability of water, price of land/crops/iron(as in tractors and equipment), cost of labor, and the goverment bs are the problem here in CA. Not every place is the same remember, and it just so happens CA has some of the best farmland, and some of the worst laws..
