The next Camaro and Stripes....

OK people, let's get away from the more arguementative posts for a sec and try and furthur help out the people working on the 5th Gen.

Since the Camaro started, there have been stripes. They have made the car look racy and distinctive. This is something that the 4th Gen completely lacked besides Anniversary cars or Special Editions. 1st Gens had Z28 racing stripes and SS front bumper or bumper to door stripes. 2nd Gens had the wide Z28 stripes too and later on used bumper to door Z28 lower body striping. 3rd Gens Z28's and IROC-Z's used lower body striping around the entire car which looked good since they were right above the separate/added on GFX. (I really like the IROC stripes alot better though) 3rds also went back to the 1st and 2nd Gen in 92 for the Anniversary optioned cars using Z28 racing stripes again. 4th Gens, well, we covered that already. But I have seen some with added on 1st Gen fender to door SS stripes and feel that they would have really benefitted from something like this. Some Z28 stripes look a little wierd on them to me but the Anniversary car stripes were done OK I guess. So, what is your view on stripes? Which do you like/dislike or would want to see/not see on the 5th Gen?

Good old heratige stripes on Z/28, optional stripes on SS - like maybe hockey stripes, none availible on V6 models. (Cept maybe a pinstripe down the sides.

Stripes are Good

I like both the 30th/35th anni styles and the hockey stick style

I'd be willing to pay $400-500 more for factory painted on stripes.

I dont know if the 5th gen should get stripes. I dont like 4th gens that have them, and only a few thirdgens look good with them. I dont know, still up in the air about that.

I have stripes obviously, and personally I don't really care either way. Although, I gotta say my car would look bland without them, which is why I bought a 30th in the first place.

Keep them optional, and make them part of special editions, like the Miata M editions. Every year maybe make a special edition Z and/or SS, and do heritage stripes...I'm personally not a fan of hockey ones...

If GM follows it's traditions over the past few decades.... stripes will be reserved for anniversary models, and be part of a $4000 package. :blah:

if blazers and s-10s can be optioned with racing stripes, I think the camaro well deserves them.

I hope the 5th gen design is good enough so that stripes are not needed to make it look awesome.

I personally think they are sorta boy-racerish, but can look good in some cases (like 4th gen hockey stripes or 1st gen Z/28 stripes). I would prefer to not have them unless the design only looked good with stripes.

Stripes should be optional on every model, 1st gen Sport Coupe models could even get stripes on the hood. a 69 Z with the racing stripes is just about the most beautiful car i can think of and its part of the Camaro legacy so most certainly it should come back with the car!
