NEWSFLASH!: 2005 SSR to get LS2!
EDITED 04/30
Major changes for the 2005 Chevrolet SSR include:
1. LS2 all aluminum V8
2. optional 6-speed manual starting in Nov.
3. 4L65E automatic is standard
4. 9 1/2in rear with Eaton limited slip (manual)
5. New engine cover
6. windbreak available
7. Hood struts standard
8. Color Aqua Blur (changes from teal to purple in the light)replaces purple
9. MP3 capability added to radios
10. Auxiliary gauge package added by shifter as an option
Manufactures's estimate for performance:
0-60 (M6) = 5.3sec
0-60 (A4) = 5.6sec
1/4 mile time under 14sec
HP and TQ figures have not been released as of yet. When asked of the real figures, the SSR marketing manager said that they won't be too far off of the Vette's. The believed 385hp may be a little light by the time official numbers come out, or so we were led to believe.
Personally, we just recieved our first 2004 SSR a few days ago, and I must say that this car is a peach to drive. I never got on it at all, but you could tell in normal acceleration that it had good enough power with the 300hp 5.3L. I can't wait to see how an LS2 with a six speed will do!
BTW, if anyone is interested in a new 2004 SSR in Slingshot Yellow, email me for the best number you'll likely find!

Everyone should know this by now. This keeps interest in the vehicle and has been stated many times the ssr in future models would get more power and a manual. You have to start somewhere and it started off as a good truck with a unique flair. NOw it will get even better and keep the interest going for at least a couple more years.

By comparison, there were 3,477 Aveos, 370 XLRs, 2,016 GMC Canyons, 2,300 H2s, and 3,033 Corvettes.

And yes, the 6.0 and 6 speed will be in next year's SSR. It will share alot of related hardware with the Trailblazer SS.
