News from the inside....?
Someone posted this on my forum. It kind of ties in with SS thread. Also, some interesting revelations on the Corvette end..
a member from another site has shared his info on what he heard from a friend on the inside.
this is what he said.
I just got off the phone with a buddy of mine who works in the V8 group at GM in Milford. This may be old information.
The SSR will be upgraded to a 380 hp LS2
Chevy will offer an "HHR" version of the SSR that will take styling cues from the 55-57 Chevy Nomad.
The C6 will get a 500 hp 7 liter LS7 engine in its second year of production. They are anticipating producing a 640 hp 8.75 liter V10 engine for the third year of production.
The Cadillac XLR will have a supercharched Northstar producing over 400 hp.
The rumor he has heard is that the Camaro (possibly not the Firebird) will be returning based on the Holden platform not the Sigma.
We're going drinking this weekend. I'll bring a pen so I can make more notes on the bar napkins.

The only thing that looks half way believe able is the SSR getting an LS2. I dont see a V10 making into a c6, like already stated, it would be the only v10 in gm's lineup. The XLR getting a supercharger from the factory??? Why? Its not underpowered. And the bit about the Holden platform.....Holden is a company, not a platform. Yes they are going to share the gm global rwd architecture with many other gm companies, I dont see them beeing the sole supplier of the chassis design. Its already been established that the 5th gen will be on Zeta yes?

From all the rumors we get in here, I could actually see these coming true.
I think you read that wrong. Zeta is being designed a lot down under. I think that’s what he meant by "the Holden platform ".

There have been rumblings of V10,12 and 16 GM engines in development for some time. So, who knows? Could be true. Certainly would seem strange for the Vette not to have a V8.

Yeah, isn't it pretty certain that GM IS producing a V10 and V12 engine for various uses, one of which is Cadillac. It doesn't seem very far fetched to me. I like the one about the SSR getting some *****, I love that thing but it is low on power for it's size.

I also beleive the SSR rumor but not the V10 Vette, I think the Vette would get FI before more cyl.

The SSR will be upgraded to a 380 hp LS2
The SSR will get a 6.0 upgrade...not sure about final output...but that sounds about right.
Chevy will offer an "HHR" version of the SSR that will take styling cues from the 55-57 Chevy Nomad.
That version of the SSR has been in the works for awhile now. Kurt Ritter even mentioned it in an interview afew years ago. I think it's a virtual certainty that, that version is a go, and will be available within about 2 years.
The C6 will get a 500 hp 7 liter LS7 engine in its second year of production. They are anticipating producing a 640 hp 8.75 liter V10 engine for the third year of production.
Check..on the LS7. I don't know about a V10 for Corvette...but I do know that really high powered V10 versions of the LS1 have been running around for afew years now.
The Cadillac XLR will have a supercharched Northstar producing over 400 hp.
That's old news.
