Re: New Z06 vid

You guys, that was the C6R, granted you can get the same sound with the Z06 if you rip out the exhaust and run straight pipes out the sides. No balance tubes at all on the race car.

Great car all around though.

i believe the z06 sports forged pistons, believe it or not..

Cool They said it had a 427 small block, not a big block. What's the difference

Big block's are not made for cars anymore The LS1 based engine is a small block, and about 150lbs lighter than the original small block.

This is an evolution of the LS2 engine which is somewhat based on the LS1 architecture. It is a square engine, yielding 7000cc's.

Re: New Z06 vid

I was thinking there was no way a production car could ever sound like that.
The new Z06 is going to rip the Viper a new one, and will definetly give the GT40 a good run for its money. One day I will be old and rich, and I will own one

The hood scoop kinda bugs me. It doesn't look bad, but at the same time the regular C6 looked better without it. At least its functional

Re: New Z06 vid

No, what you are hearing is a 650hp (restricted) 7000cc C6R engine.

The only reason I can tell is that for the past 6 years I have been around them several times each year in the paddocks. The way the exhaust is setup on the street vette's, you cannot get that "pulse" sound, only when they are not balanced can you get that sound.

I have lots of video if you want, I also have a video Pratt & Miller running diagnostics on the C5R on a laptop with the engine running.

Re: New Z06 vid

Pistons are cast aluminum, riding on titanium rods and a forged crank.

Yes they have a rediculous CR, worse then the lt1. However it's pretty much common knowledge that the LS series of engines tolerate boost better - and with the controls now in place I think timing and such could be tweaked enough to have it last atlast a few pulls under boost. May not last long, but it'd be pretty rediculous while it lived. Notice I didnt mention anything about longevity .

I wonder if forged dished pistons are all it needs to take boost (even 8psi) and last...

It's only a matter of time before Lingenefelter Engineering drops the static CR and goes through the motor then works their twin turbo magic on the new Z06 . Ferrari Enzo? What, where... oh back there in the distance...

Re: New Z06 vid

A while back, I remember reading about the rediculously high hp (literally about 1000+ hp) LS1 engine guys having problems with lifting heads, since the lsx engine uses less bolts than the usual small block that still a problem?

my thoughts exactly! figure since its better to trade compression for boost, run an 8:1 or 8.5:1 static CR and 8-12 pounds boost and you'd have a ferrari killer in no time. and if you did your math right, no turbo lag whatsoever.
