Please see my original post again. NO WHERE did I mention one to be a better deal than another..OK Here's the new title to the thread.

NEW VETTE CHEAPER THAN A NEW COBRA!!!!

I just thought comparing it to another GM vehicle that had the same motor, same HP and around the same price after you worked it out would make a good comparison, but the GTO guys have been kicked around so much that they got a little defensive. To be fair I think the Cobra is a steal at $34k and the GTO is a little over priced at $34k, but that wasn't my intentions. It just sounded better than:

NEW VETTE CHEAPER THAN A CTS WITH NAVIGATION XENON HEADLAMPS AND PREMIUM FLOORMATS!

Not all us GTO guys are defensive, and some of us actually kicked back.

I wouldn't say the Cobra's a steal at $34K (actually it's $35K), but that's my opinion based on my priorities. To a person whom speed is #1 priority as is head of the line dealer service, Cobra is worth the price.

To me, GTO is worth the $32K (not $34K) because I value a well made car that is hella quick and handles extremely well.

It's not going to humiliate Supercharged 420 horsepower Cobras with 360 horses (both cars weigh almost exactly the same), but it's going to hold it's own & then some. Also the interiors and handling abilities are 2 different classes... or time periods.

Not slamming the Cobra... remember, I'm probally one of 2 or 3 people who is also a Mustang enthusiast. I just can't see spending 35 large for one any more than you can see spending 32 for the new Goat.

If we all agreed on what we wanted in a car and had the same priorities, we all be driving the same car. What kinda boring discussions would we have then?

I wondered how long it would take for someone to catch that.

Ok, I owned a Grand Am GT coupe for a year and a half. A GTO DOES NOT LOOK LIKE A GRAND AM. People who say that need to walk there *** down to a Pontiac dealer

I am so sick of hearing people trash the car over styling. So its a clean, simple design. So what? It does look somewhat like the previous gen Grand Prix. And you know what? Most people prefer the styling of that over the new one, at least when I was selling the first of the '04s...

Give the car a break for christ sakes. People on here aren't happy solely because it doesn't have gaudy hood scoops and tacky ground effects. C&D doesn't like it because it is exactly what they always asked for...a clean Pontiac. Some people...

I now know why there are so many GTO styling threads. Its just too easy to get under your skin. A Geo Metro looked like a Camaro. Obviously if you won't mistake one for the other but they have the same styling cues namely the front end. The GTO looks more like Pontiac styling now whick looks alot like their styling in the 90's (minus the body cladding) and it is an outdated look. Look ahead at the Solstice. It looks like nothing Pontiac has out there now and will be their future look. Look at the concept GTO from a couple years ago, looks nothing like a Pontiac now. Every Pontiac out there is a variation of the same outdated look they have had since the 90's.

The intention of this post was to point out a new C5's affordability. I'm sure alot of people who thought they couldn't afford a C5 but could afford a GTO could see that in fact the Vette could be cheaper. I also forgot to mention insurance. My Insurance on my Vette was cheaper than both my 02 WS6 and my 01 Lightning.

So a $45K Vette would end up costing about $36K. Plus I get $2000 more off because of the GM card. $34K for a New C5, damn thats a great deal, I wish I was in the market to buy a new car

Don't forget about 3.3% financing. That is the real kicker.

Just heard today Greenspan saying if we don't close the deficit (he reccomended cutting SS) then intrest rates are going to go up & the economy going to get hit hard.

That 3.3% is probabally as good as it's going to get before things fall apart here soon.
