I haven't heard anything about the V6 Diesel Engine, but it would make a cool engine for the Hummer H3

Off topic, but it would be nice if they slipped a 4 cyl turbo diesel into a car (impala or malibue) as well. I know the new pullution laws make this harder stateside, but the mpg these things are getting is amazing. The VW Jetta diesel gets 40-45mpg in city driving, and close to 50mpg on the highway.

Diesels also crush hybrids when it comes to highway MPG

Big surprise. Isuzu has been building a diesel V6 for years. Interestingly, a few years ago Cummins demonstrated a 60 degree 4.0 liter V6 diesel in a Durango. If you look back into the dark ages, there was a 4.3 liter V6 version of the Oldmobile diesel.

The ultimate problem with a diesel V6 is vibration. Mercedes never solved this issue, hence the diesel inline 6 E-class that's coming into the US this year. I'd be very much surprised if the engineers at Isuzu are any smarter than their German counterparts. Remember, this is Isuzu we're talking about.

LOL... good point.

I'd like to see the Isuzu 3.0L 4 cyl Diesel end of in the Colorado.

By 2007-08 all of the 1500 series trucks from the Big 3 and imports will have V6 Diesels.

The 4.5L Diesel V6 by international puts out 460 lbs-ft. of torque and should get mid 20's MPG in a full size pickup. That would be nice since Diesel is $1.75 and regular (87) gas is $1.95 where I live.

How appropriate - an Isuzu designed motor in an Isuzu designed truck.

It will be about time that diesels migrated down to half tons. Personally, I question the logic of even offering a gasoline engine in one ton and up trucks.

Let's just hope that this one sounds a bit less like a school bus.

Actually it is designed by GM, there was a thread here about that a few weeks/month ago.

I'm assuming your talking about the 6.0L powerstroke that International builds for Ford? I have never heard that engine, but if you want to hear a VERY loud Deisel pickup, check out the late 90's early '00 Dodge Ram, they sound like a big rig.

Very true. Plus in Europe BMW has a high powered diesel 330 series that appearently is extremely athletic. I've been thinking the past couple of days as gas officially went above $2 that my future second car would be a VW diesel but with 16 inch all season tires and stiffer shocks. A touring type set up.

Plus I thought I heard there's a twin turbo Toureg coming next year?
