New Trailblazer commercial features 69 Camaro

Just saw it. Two Trailblazers...regular and EXT, both black. The commercial is highlighting the towing capacities.

On the EXT's trailer sits a bright red '63 Corvette coupe.

On the regulat trailblazer sits a yellow '69 Camaro SS convertible.

As long as its retro in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gen fashion aka low, swoopy and mean, fine. But if its some upright 2 box coupe looking like something that hasn't been made in 35 years? My next F body purchase is adding an IROC to the garage...

Retro = no creativity. What will the '05 Mustang's encore be? A Mustang II wanna be??

I saw the commercial tonight as well ad was just about to post a thread about it till I saw this one. I have to agree that it will be retro given all of the 1st gen hints and the little tidbits we have been handed. While I dont like many of the newer cars as they all look too curvy and too similar (which is why I bought a '92).

If they just take some styling cues from the 1st gens I think it will be fine, what wont be fine is what the stang will be (and to all that say it isn't retro are just plain blind. EVERY person I have asked about it off this board says it retro)

Like everything else, only time will tell

I was gonna make a post on this too. Yup they used a 69. How this means that the 5th Gen will now be all-out retro I have no clue. They obviously wanted two cars from the 60's which are normally towed to shows/tracks by SUV's like this and that's what they chose. It was pretty much a copy of the Dodge commercials.

JE, what's it gonna be? IROC-Z, 5th Gen, something else?! It's different everytime with you. (Go for the IROC-Z!)

Long nose, short deck, 4 seats, low stance but good daily driveability. You should be able to get into the camaro, not fall into it. I like the low slung-ness of the third/4th gen, but in the interest of major sales for V6 models, make sure that girls like sitting it in too. Get into a new GTO and you know what Im talking about. You dont fall into it, but its not SUV/Mustang like. Its a happy median.

Hey....they'd better get it right, 'cause I've already got an IROC.

First post, huh? Welcome to the site.

But also welcome to last March:

If you need any history on the subject, or who some of the people mentioned are (no names, just good or bad source), just ask.

That is my first post however I have been reading this forum for a few years now, and I love this place by the way. Anywho, I said that because every time I see another commercial, or music video, or magazine ad or whatever with a first gen I always think that it was there to prepare us for whats to come. Plus, I'm lookin foward to it being retro cuz I have a '67 rs. So I like to keep saying it so hopefully it will come true. Maybe thats just me.

I think you're reading way too much in to the choice of year of Camaro in these ads.

They are probably choosing them just because they have the most coolness factor whereas the later model cars are more of an enthusiast thing.

Same reason snooty BMW owners might think a '65 mustang is cool but would never think of buying a new one.
