The sketch is new while the concept pics you posted are not. The new sketch shows revised headlights as well as a new lower grill that will resemble the production Eclipse.

 

so is that drawing what the new car will look like, or is it still in the "way out there" concept stage?

 

Looks like its proportions are kind of based off the camo'd spy shots flowing around so i think it's supposed to be what the production version MIGHT look like.

 

I like it. I've always liked the Eclipse cars. Although, I think the current generation could use a boost in power. It would be nice to see them offer the same engines/options in the Eclipse that they offer in the Evo. Now that would be a car worth buying.

 

The current models are poop. The turbo'd ones were awsome, they need to put turbo's on them again.

 

Other than the ugly wheels, that orange thing is actually ok.. a lot better than anything else I've seen coming out of Mitsu, Honda, Nissan etc. The front (lights... gaping mouth etc) make me think MkIV Supra somewhat.

Still it's just a concept sketch, a lot can go wrong between that and the final production styling .

 

Well, you could find an eclipse like that, but it'd have to be a used one. The 1st and 2nd gen DSM's have the 4G63 turbo 2.0L...same motor that serves as the basis for current EVO. Not sure on the AWD systems, but they're probably close.

With the EVO filling in the Turbo AWD segment, i don't see Mitsu positioning the Eclipse in the same market as the EVO. Not much of a business case, although a cheaper version of the EVO with 245hp and a sticker price south of 25k would be really nice, and can be positioned to compete with the WRX.

 

I like this a lot better than the earlier ones. Now if it can just get that e-boost!

 

The prototype they had running around actually had AWD. It also had a hybrid electric system, which I hope stays out of eclipse.

When will the production car be shown at car shows, anyone knows a rough date?
