New Product Tidbits from GM's Global Business Conference
While the "midsize" vehicles have changed in size in recent years, the segment the Malibu is in is *extremely* competitive. Sure, the Impala is more overdue for a new model, but I think the Malibu is the more strategic vehicle that will get sales, as it appears the Impala is slated to become the "old fart mobile" in Chevrolet at this point. There is also a new Fusion on the way (I believe also a 2012), and we know from Ford's latest that they aren't pulling any punches, and the new Sonata looks to be doing well.
It also might have something to do with the Regal as well, depending on how all the chassis underpinnings go - perhaps swapping assembly line stuff about and halting production on some components that will be no longer necessary. For all we know, the Regal & 2012 Malibu will both only come with 4 bangers!
