New Pontiac compact blurb
This was in an AutoWeek article on Tiger Woods being used to a greater extent in GM marketing.

A new GMC crossover vehicle, the Acadia, is arriving in dealerships. Buick dealers will get a similar vehicle, the Enclave, next year. Pontiac, meanwhile, might receive a new entry-level car similar to the G5, John Larson, GM's general manager of Pontiac-Buick-GMC, said during a recent event here.

I don't think Pontiac will get an Aveo/Canadian Pontiac Wave. Seems counter to what they're trying to do with the brand image. I think the G5 is a stopgap until they can get a better compact, but I don't think it will be the Wave.

GM sure are spending a lot of money on Tiger Woods... but Tiger has really given GM some negative returns.
Personally, I would give up on giving Tiger some hard earned GM money because the new generation GM vehicles will sell themselves. GM don't need Tiger Woods - he'd almost have enough cash to buy Buick already...

and the G5 is a rebadged cobalt.

Don't expect GM to rebadge another vehicle for Pontiac.
Have you seen any ads touting the availability of the G5? No, because Pontiac gave the G5 to dealers to please them and keep them quiet.
Expect some news from Kappa on this years show scene.

That picture is the Canadian Market Pontiac Wave:

As I said, we won't likely see any variation of it here. Pontiac weren't even going to get the G5, but then dealers complained about not having an entry level car. I don't think Pontiac has any need for a sub G5 car in the U.S. market. Chevy has it covered with the Aveo. If Pontiac were getting the Wave, why not just say "similar to the Canadian Pontiac Wave" rather than "similar to the G5?" Pontiac has been selling the Aveo as Wave in Canada for years. Prior to that they had the Suzuki Swift/Geo Metro as the Pontiac Firefly. Pontiac is a strong brand in Canada and Canadians like subcompacts.

As to the compact sedan pontiac might get here in the US, it most certainly will not be the Wave. Chevrolet already sells every single one GM can ship over, so adding a Pontiac version simply means diverting part of what's brought over already to Pontiac. GM isn't going to spend twice the marketing costs simply to sell a car that's already sold.
