Again, the Nomad concept from last year just ain't gonna happen. It did not clinic well (though I'm not sure just who they asked, I liked it well enough if they'd do a different front end)

I sincerely hope you're right...I still wish they made a Solstice coupe!! Love the vert, but I need a daily driver, and in New England I don't feel like beating snow off my convertible top all winter, thanks

Why have the Nomad when they have the Maxx? Its one or the other IMO.

I REALLY want to see a full-hybrid Kappa eventually. With that relatively light chassis and its handling abilities, it'd make for one heck of a performance vehicle while staying in the green zone at the same time. I wonder if they could turbo & electric assist it?? 250HP + 50 MPG. Yes, please.

RWD and a manual tranny. Those two elements would attract a customer such as myself to Chevy who otherwise would not have considered it. In other words, the Nomad would attract my business, while the Maxx certainly does not.

I would certainly go with a Nomad-like vehicle over the Malibu Maxx as well. You would think such a car would fit nicely in either Chevrolet, Pontiac, or Saturn's lineup.

Re: New Kappas on the backburner...

Quite sad. Did GM even consider why those 2 nieche vehicles sold poorly? One (The SSR) is plain overpriced and underpowered (not underpowered now, but still overpriced and ugly to some) and the other is still a premium 30+k car that looked bland to the majority of the public and was initially overpriced due to markups. Their poor sales have no bearing on the very attractive and sporty $20-25k Kappa. For starters, the Kappa's aren't overpriced, their styling certainly isn't bland, and the base (for the time being atleast) 170 ecotec isn't underpowered in a relatively light 2800lb body. In excells in all the areas and reasons the SSR and GTO failed in...but GM's stupid beancounters and marketing division hgas their facts all screwed up . And they have the audacity to label the Kappa line as "money losing". No ****, you'll lose money unless you expand on the platform and build as many variants as possible to boost Kappa volume.

I forgot, we all live in a world of car enthusiasts and every is tripping over themselves to get RWD 4cyl roadster-type hatchbacks.

As opposed to fwd, auto-only, notchback station wagons?

Nomad is more of a sports-wagon. They could build a slew of different cars off this platform if they were really serious about making it a "profitible" higher volume platform.

The "ohh, our two other nieche vehicle's aren't doing so well and so we'll cut kappa plans" logic behind thier reasoning is flawed. They ignore why the two other vehicles didn't sell.

Btw: you really don't have to be a car enthusiast to enjoy and want a sporty, stylish, and fun to drive automobile regardless of it beeing a wagon, minivan, truck, roadster, econo-hatch, sports-car, etc.... . GM does NOT have a sports wagon in the chevy/pontiac/Saturn camp and their only real option is a rebadged WRX sold as a Saab. This same problem is evident in the Ford camp.

You can have a stylish, sporty, affordable, practical, and fun to drive car. Contrary to popular believe, a car can be stylish, practical, and fun to drive. You don't have to settle for one or the other. Some fail to recognize that.
