new impala SS

Interesting that my other thread got very little reaction...

At 10AM Friday, September 22, 2006, in the Texas Motor Speedway Victory Circle, Jon Moss will unveil a brand new, never before seen vehicle, EXCLUSIVELY at ImpalaFest 2006! That's right, Jon picked ImpalaFest 2006 for the very first public display of this new vehicle.

Take off work, schedule an extra day of vacation, whatever it takes, just find a way to BE THERE! Due to another activity at the track that morning, our Impalas will be parked in the Nextel Cup garage, now how cool is that?

We don't know how long Jon can stay on Friday, but we know that he won't be with us on Saturday (his daughter is being married, and that does take precedence over ImpalaFest...). So if you want to see Jon again, see Jon for the first time, check out his new car, FRIDAY IS THE DAY TO BE THERE!

Besides, if you're participating in the car show or the road course racing, you need to be checked in sometime on Friday anyway. Just show up a couple hours earlier, visit with Jon, hang out with the Impala guys and gals the rest of Friday, cruise out for dinner Friday evening. On Saturday you can participate in the car show and road course racing (back at TMS!), then on Sunday head out to Kennedale for the daylight drags. BUT DON'T MISS JON MOSS AND HIS ALL NEW, um.... NEW CAR (yeah that's it, a new car. We just can't tell you what it is yet, but it starts with an "I" and ends with an "SS") ON FRIDAY!

Watch this space for additional ImpalaFest / Jon Moss information, coming soon to a computer near you!

Re: new impala SS

Is it going to be a rebadge LHD of that new Holden chassis?

I don't know what they'll be showing, but if you're talking about the Zeta Impala, it certainly is not a Holden rebadge.

Re: new impala SS

Well, kinda what I was shooting at was this.... Moss is a guy that gets to take cars and make them cool. Not so much in the Future development stuff.

For what he has turned out in the past, I would suspect more of a new V sedan chassis made into a cool futuristic Impala (maybe even with styling cues from the actual plans of what the car might, at this point, look like at its next total redesign), than a concept Impala (new Zeta stuff and all).

Who knows though! (surely someone does)

What you posted here, or in the other thread, didn't say anything about "next generation" or even RWD. "New" and "Never before seen" are over used anymore, so I figured it could either be a newly modified (whatever year) Impala SS or it could be the next generation RWD Impala SS. Either one could be called "new" and "never before seen", just like people talk about their "new" car even though it was bought used.

Anyway, that is besides the point. If it is in fact the next generation Impala SS, I can't wait to see it , and am extremely suprized they didn't wait for NAIAS (makes me wonder what they have in store for that )

Impala will be built on Zeta 2. It will have it's own unique sheetmetal and interior for example. It's NOT a rebadged Commodore.

Sorry, I thought I posted more in that thread...
"new, never before seen" are words that I was told by the HOSS club president. I was told that it will in fact be RWD with a V8.

Mr. Moss no longer works at GM (he retired earlier this year or last year) but apparently still has plenty of friends there. He's working for Regency now doing the sport trucks and stuff. So naturally he'll be showing one of those trucks also.

Re: new impala SS

I'm probably just missing it, but where does it say RWD? This is the car I've been excited for Chevy to introduce now that we've seen the Camaro.

Maybe it isn't GMs car but a 2006/2007 Impala SS he has tuned.

No need to cram, all LSx engines should be fairly easy to switch right? They are all the same exterior size.
