New Highlander, xB, xD

From Cheers and Gears:

http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums...howtopic=15333

After seeing the inside and out of the Highlander, the strongest part of that car is that it has the Toyota name on it, and is thus made out of gold in the eyes of some consumers.

It seems to have grown in size, making it more of a direct competitor to the Outlook (the current Highlander is significantly smaller, even though price and market wise they compete). Thankfully for Saturn, the Highlander has also put on some poundage, 500lbs according to CandD. Just looking at the info given in the article, it seems to lag behind the Outlook. I think it won't have as much space (though that is somewhat speculation on my part) as the lambdas. I think it is behind in terms of styling (as is the current one, which is possibly one of the most boring looking vehicles ever created). I also think it trails the Saturn in interior styling. Both have similar engines and power output, though the Highlander apparently sticks with the 5 speed auto vs. the 6 speed in the Outlook.

I'm not even going to comment on the xB and xD. :blah:

I'm iffy on the exterior styling of the Highlander, but the interior looks pretty nice.

I'm more interested to see the new RX inside and out which will probably be another year after the Highlander comes out. Might replace our 4runner with the new RX if we like it enough. If not, well, we're in no rush.

If the RX offers 7 passenger seating they better not make it standard or impossible to avoid if you want a loaded up vehicle.

The new xB looks better than the current one, though that's not saying a whole lot. I hope they get something a little more interesting than the 108hp 4-cyl they have now, or if they stick with it, at least manage to pull some more impressive economy numbers out of it. The xD just looks stupid. But I've kinda assumed that about the entire Scion line... the tC is the only model they have that I'd ever even have a passing interest in test driving, much less ever consider buying.

Not sure if it is the gay color, but the Highlander looks like a soccermom ride. Somethign a woman would drive. The styling looks like is is girlified.

The interior is different, not really liking it. Nt terrible, but whatever. I am sure the RX will blow this away. At least i hope so.

I agree with you 100% on all three of those vehicle. I predict the xD to be a flop, it is too much like the xB but with worse styling.

the new xB has the headlights of an old tC and the new xD has what looks like the headlights off of a Toyota Tacoma..

they're both very ugly, but I thought the same thing about the last generation, and I guess they sold alright, some people just don't have any taste

Here's one for the media bias camp: Why is it that GM gets ripped to shreds every time a vehicle is reviewed with the 4 speed auto.....yet the xB has a 4 speed auto....and C&D glosses right over that......
