New headlamp regulations coming soon?

http://www.motortrend.com/features/news/112_news35/

To be honest, stock H.I.D. headlamps and foglamps never bother me... but sometimes SUV and truck headlamps do... the are up so high compared to my car that they do, on rare occasion, make it difficult...

But, I'd have to say not so much that anything needs to be changed.

I love the HID lights, and the day I find a set for my 1997, they're on.

But, on SUVs, I do think something should be done. Nothing like having a vehicle behind you with HIDs at rear view mirror level.

I've never had that problem. That's what 10% tint is for.

Thats retarded! Isn't the idea behind a headlight to illuminate. It would stand to me that logically a brighter headlight would be benificial for night driving. The problem isn't HID, its those "xenon" bulbs. HID hardly causes any glare.

If more people would maintain their vehicles and keep their headlamps in allignment, this wouldn't be a problem.

Foglights as well, if people got them installed properly, or installed them themselves properly, there would be no problem.

You have no idea how many times ive been blinded by HID lights and i have almost gotten in a few accidents because of them. they need to be dimmer, bmw's normal headlights are brighter than my highbeams...something is wrong there. SUV lights need to be changed too, i hate beeing blinded by those behind me

I thought HID use bulbs that are filled with Xenon gas

The problem seems to be in the dumbass DOT regulations regarding the shape of the projected beam. European headlights have a much better cutoff, especially on the right side, and so they don't tend to project nearly as much light into the eyes of oncoming traffic.

Sound's like this would pretty much solve these complaints.

That plus SuperDave's 10% tint solution.

I got in front of a Audi TT the other night with those headlights and they were dang bright! I think they should have regular headlights for low beams and the new ones for high beams. Of course, alot of people don't know when to hit the dimmer switch, so that might not help either.

I was referring to those regular filiment bulbs which supposedly have xenon gas in them.. Hyper whites and such which claim to give a HID look.
