New GTO

Anyone have a rough estimate on what the price tag is supposed to be on these things? I'm thinking hopefully I'd be able to pick one up in a year or so when my TA is payed off finally. Anyone else eyeing one up too?

Apparently they're supposed to be significantly more expensive than Camaro/Firebirds...I'm thinking since it'll have 350 horses stock (rumored) it'll be somewhere around the Vette....

Not sure though.

I heard mid 30s. That seems reasonable for this car.

mid 30s for a friggin Pontiac coupe is a joke. Way out of the price range of MANY people who would otherwise buy the car. The Monaro in Australia is considerably more affordable. Unlike ANY other passenger car that GM makes, the Monaro actually has quality, fit, and finish. If they could offer it in the high 20s, then they would be on the long road to earning a decent reputation for good performance cars.

Ya that doesn't sound like a bad price for a nice ride, although I hear they aren't making to many of them, if they become popular it might be hard to get one.

Thumbs up

Hopefully they'll be right around 30 with most options, then I think I'll be able to afford one. TA and GTO!!

You picked a good time. Because he is FULL OF SH*T!

The V8 Manaro retails for 57,850 in Australia (which comes standard with leather, 18in wheels, and a 10disk CD Changer); Convert that to US and you get $32,776. Add the cost of importing, making it look like a Pontiac, and upgrading to US safety, and emissions standards, and you are in the mid 30's.

This isn’t a Pontiac. It is just wearing the badge. It’s interior is worlds better than anything GM is making right now (outside of Corvette and Cadillac), it has independent rear suspension, a usable back seat, a large trunk, and is aerodynamic; all while weighting about the same as an F-body.

My name isn't Giggs! Don't make me hurt you!

Good counterpoints. I forgot that it was still going to be built in Australia and imported here. That point must've slipped my mind. If their quality is anything better that current GM quality as you say it is, I'd pay the $30k-ish pricetag.

You never priced the WS6 Trans Am or S/C Bonneville, have you?

The price for a Monaro CV8 with conversion from Australian to US dollars (roughly 55 cents to the dollar at the moment) is roughly the same as is expected for the GTO, low-mid 30s.

The V6, supercharged Monaro CV6 is Z28/loaded Monte Carlo priced (upper mid 20s). THAT would be a popular car to bring here as well. I looked at an underhood picture I took of my friend's again, and that S/C pulley is huge! Boltong on just the GTP pulley will make a mountain of difference, let alone an even smaller pulley! Add a shift kit (they come only with automatics) and it's be a ripper.
