New divisional badges

First Buick loses it's color (unless you're in China), now Pontiac loses it's color too, and we get the ugly gold bowtie on the Camaro. Sad.

I like the new Pontiac badge. Very futuristic, but still has the traditional shape.

I'd rather have a blue Chevy Bowtie than gold. Gold never looks right on a car.

"The new Pontiac emblem GM unveiled on the show car at the 2007 Chicago Auto Show. The silver emblem was created to replace the conventional red Pontiac logo we've grown accustomed over the past 40 years or so."

Current US Buick Badge:

China Buick Badge:

There have been several threads in this section that talk about the Camaro's bowtie (and lack of a proper tri-colored Camaro badge).

I like the shape, but it should be red.

Blue is definately better than gold, but it should have the tri-color. What's next, replacing the crossed flags on the Vette with a giant gold bowtie?

1, the badge on the G8 at the auto show was not a production version.. there have been pictures of a production G8 and it had the red arrowhead

2, i think i prefer monchrome badges anyway, i definitely like how Chevy has standardized the Gold Bowtie.. i think it looks sharp.. and the Buick's badge looks good in chrome too.. back to the pontiac badge, i actually prefer the one shown on the g8 concept

When do we get a monochrome Bowtie?

I think the gold really does hurt the looks of the cars.

Apparently GM figures people will change their perception of a brand because it has a different badge on it, "Hey look hun, Buick isn't just for old people anymore - they have this trendy chrome badge now!" Look how well that worked for Oldsmobile.

Or maybe someone suggested they could save a cent or two by leaving the color out.

I don't know, I just don't get GM sometimes.

Here's the "real world" Pontiac badge from the other thread:

Looks like the red badge is dead, but I like the simplified lines of the new badge.

Thinking to other brands that have high prestige - most of them have monotone silver badges as well. The only exception I can think of off the top of my head at the moment is BMW.

Looks like that new Buick badge will be a b!tch to clean behind. Fortunately, I won't have to worry about it.

So I assume the no color badges save like a penny a badge or something in paint costs

I think both Pontiacs and Buicks new badges look worlds better than the ones they replace . Both are high on style without being overstated .
