New Corvette SS?

Re: New Corvette SS?
Came from the Corvette racecar from 1957 built to win Sebring. Weighed in at 1850lbs and had 307hp. It hit 183mph, but had mechanical problems and retired after 23 laps.
BUT, it was never used on a production Corvette. Also vehicles of the 60's that had the SS badge were not the necessarily the be all and end all of performance as has been reiterated many a time in threads where people want to bash the new line of SS's.
There have been more production ZR1s than just the near-exotics of the early ninties. It was an option package in the third generation. ZL1 never appeared on a production Corvette to my knowledge, but there were the 2 or 3 1969 ZL1 prototypes that were built and were very fast.

Re: New Corvette SS?
ahh...Chazman..........very close.
The answers are:
What was the Corvette S/S
What was 1957.
Who was Zora Arkus Duntov
you got two and 3/4s of 'em right, but you didn't post them in Question format!!!!!
(running, ducking, hiding)

People......pay attention!!
I think many have forgotten the SSs of the early to mid sixties. We tend, at least I think so, to think of the Chevelle SS-396 and SS-454 and the Camaro SSs........but in reality, most SSs were built over the early years with a 283....or a 327...or, worse yet, a 250 cu in in-line 6!!

Re: New Corvette SS?
You mean Red had to tell you guys again?
I have made like 5 posts saying specifically "Red told us before that there is not SS Corvette." He said something along the lines of it not happening, but said that there would be reason to. He even did the same quiz about Duntov in that thread, with a pic of Duntov in the SS vette. He said this like a week before the SS rumors started circulating...

1. Red knows.
2. I get the feeling that you may cause this company to lose its contract.

You need to read closer.......... he said no "Corvette SS" nameplate. Said nothing about the existance or non-existance of a supercharger program.

Did he say the car doesn't exist, or that it's NOT going to be called the Corvette SS?!
Pay attention & keep up, will ya?
