Re: New Camaro pictures.

edit: i like it. very muscular looking. i think the front should be fixed a bit though. but you know that by the time its a real car, the tires will be 4 inches narrower and the rims 5 inches smaller

edit: does page 39 say that it will start at $20,000?

Re: New Camaro pictures.

According to every credible description (meaning at least 5 people) I've heard on the car, that profile seems to have nailed it, the rear view is way off but the front fender creases on the red car seems very close. The rear quarter windows aren't pointed as in the picture, and the grille "shape" is close.

Being that there is no doubt any prototype would be tested on the same German track GM has been using to develop just about all it's performance cars lately, and the magazine's German, and that it would seem all the things the 1st drawing got wrong would be things that would be disguised, and latest word is 2007, there's alot of coincidence here.

D....02SS or anyone else, do you guys want to chime in on the accuracy?

Re: New Camaro pictures.

If the back of the car (after the front windows) was more like the PHR pic and the first picture in that link, then I'd love it...that rear end on the others though is just....blah...

Re: New Camaro pictures.

well, guion, by the way you have been describing what you've heard, and by looking at the styling trend Chevy(and GM) has been going towards, i think the car is everything i'd expect i really hope they keep that hump over the rear wheels.

Are you referring to the profile illustration (light blue car)? It seems to have a very short wheelbase and considerable rear overhang.

The hood on the red car looks an awful lot like the 500hp GTO concept's hood (and of course the 4th gen).

Re: New Camaro pictures.

Does anyone else see a little late C-3 in the nose of the blue SS? To me, 80-82 Vette pops right to mind - moreso that 1st gen Camaro. I like the fender bulges front and back but the shape of the 3/4 window and it's relationship to the pillar don't mesh very well - IMO. That part of the car looks disjointed to me. The 3/4 window treatment on the cars on the first two pages is better. I also see some SS concept lines in there to (about that I'm not surprised:-). I think there's a lot to like in the depictions and it isn't overtly retro in appearance - especially the page 3 cars. They do look purposeful. I guess we'll see how close anyone's stab at the look was - in a couple of years.

Re: New Camaro pictures.

But would this car not have the aerodynamics of a "brick", to quote Red Planet on the bluntness of the Mustang's retro nose?

I'd have to say that concept is pretty darned retro....obviously with modern shapes and concepts but the overall appearance is a 2007 model 1967 Camaro...

Not to mention the std. hood on the 67-69 Camaros.

I don't know. The front end isn't foreward leaning like the Mustang it is raked back, so I don't think there would be as much an aerodynamic penalty as compared to the Mustang. In any event a car doesn't have to be shaped like a doorstop to have a respectable drag coefficient. - but I'm no engineer. So I would defer that conclusion to those more in the know.

Re: New Camaro pictures.

For the most part i like it. I love the hood on the blue SS. I think that looks pretty bad ***. I'd say blue profile car is probably closer than the orange one. I love the fender buldges, but the back on the second set of cars would have to be changed.

BTW, if the car has B-pillars like the first gen like the first set of these concept drawings, could it structurally have T-tops or does the B-pillar have to be more vertical a la 4th gen
