New Caliber SRT4

I wonder how this will compete against the Cobalt SS or is it more a HHR SS competitor?

A friend worked on it for SRT. He said it was a very fun car to drive.

I saw $23k to start

It has amazingly "thuggish" outside styling, but a dashboard that just doesnt excite me. If you want to stick it in the "small wagon" market... who knows.

For $23,000 you can get the Mazdaspeed3 or the Caliber SRT4. Depending on the sticker of the HHR SS - who knows.

I'd rather have the Neon version.

It is built on the Neon chassis, but has more weight and apparently not as fun to drive as the Neon version. I read this in some review, I have not driven either.

That review is BULLSH*T! Caliber is on a new shared chassis w/ Mitsu Lancer and maybe outlander, also shared w/ the Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass. An upcoming sedan will be on it as well.

Maybe I read the review wrong??? Looking it up now, it appears to be on a different chassis. But I definitely remember them saying it wasn't as fun to drive.

Motorweek did a review this weekend, and if I remember right, they only got a 15.0@97mph out of it, and it has SERIOUS wheel hop and torque steer they said.

I thought I remembered aound $22k mentioned as the starting MSRP.

Correct, though the sedan program is up in the air at the moment (along with lots of other things at Casa Mopar).
