New 2007 Expedition and Expedition "EL"
http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=25998
Did I miss a thread about this? Branden/someone has this linked at GMInsideNews (and he has a nice link to Ford's media site).
I think it looks good, personally. Note that there are now swb and lwb versions, like the Tahoe and Suburban.
Note also that they are HEAVY bastages. The GMT900 suvs porked up 400-500 lbs vs. the GMT800s, but they are still several hundred pounds less than these new Fords. 5600+ lbs for a 2wd, regular wheelbase Expedition, 5900 lbs for 2wd lwb version. Tahoe specs I found list the 2wd Tahoe at 5233, and a 4wd at 5537.
Engine is still the 5.4L 3V at 300 hp/365 lb ft, which has not had impressive fuel economy or performance in these trucks in the past (and these new ones are even heavier). However, they do now benefit from having a six speed automatic standard, which is an advantage over the GM offerings. And obviously, the IRS/fold flat rear seats, which is an advantage to some. The 900s still have the upper hand in the engine department (and it would not surprise me if they had a ride/handling advantage as well, but that remains to be seen).
I personally think both the new Fords AND the new 900s look good, and I'm glad to see them both have strong offerings in the segment. As I've said before, I look at them more as crosstown rivals than mortal enemies, a category into which I place Toyota. The new Sequoia is due soon, as well, and I'm sure it will be impressive (though probably fugly, if it looks like the FTX/Tundra concept from last year). Hopefully the new 900s and these new Fords will give them some growth in this segment, or at least some healthy profits.
Both the 900s and the Fords make the Nissan Armada and Dodge Durango look even uglier than before by comparison.
BTW, if I've just been hiding under a rock (hiding from Chuck Norris
) and missed a thread about this, kindly let me know so I may hang my head in shame...

Re: New 2007 Expedition and Expedition "EL"
This is the first time I've seen it. Any tech specs?
To me the inside looks 90% the same. The exterior looks like Lincoln was told to do their own version of the Ford Excursion, but in 'lincoln' style, and a bit smaller.

For reference, some '07 Tahoe specs can be found here.

Re: New 2007 Expedition and Expedition "EL"
I think the Tahoe looks better, but I got to give it to Ford for keeping up. The last new Expedition was only in 2003
Both GM and Ford want to stay ahead of Toyota bad in this segment.

HOLY MACKREL! LOOK AT THAT INTERIOR!!!

I thought the old "new" interior was hot. Then, I though GM's new Tahoe/Suburban was good (only the Escalade's was near "hot").
This raises the bar....ALOT!!!
And this is a regular Ford.
What are the chances a Tahoe will top this... let alone Toyota or Nissan?

.......... oh, and BTW, the exterior is simply...... OK.

Oh, and Toyota has generally not had any problem matching or exceeding GM and Ford interiors when comparing competing models. Not sure why you think they will this time around.
Granted the current full size Toyota interior (Tundra/Seq) is way out of date compared to the competition, but it's also very very old relative to the others. We'll have to see what happens when the new full sized yota comes out.
Re: New 2007 Expedition and Expedition "EL"
I have never been a fan of that style of interior. It looks very much along the lines of the current F-150 as you would expect. It looks more truck-like than the new Tahoe. The Tahoe and it's siblings have an interior that has a simple elegance but the Expedition looks very busy and the first shot looks like they used 300 different materials in that dash. The black interior pick looks much better. The exterior is very plain, even more so than the out going model which I didn't think was bad.
The exterior design looks like they took the design language from the interior and applied it to the exterior. This is especially evident in the front.
