It goes on to say that the quickest new Ram should run 5.x for a 0-60 run.
Pickuptrucks.com reports that the new Dodge pickup will actually be offering more power underhood than originally thought. The 5.7L HEMI V8 option will see its horsepower increase from 345 to a whopping 390, while torque goes up from 375 pound-feet to 407. It was originally thought the '09 Ram would offer 380 hp and 404 pound-feet of torque, so here we have a case of underpromising and overdelivering. The improvements in power come courtesy of variable cam timing, an active intake system, higher compression ratio, improved airflow and a reworked Multiple Displacement System.
And yet, they aren't...my current demo is a Quad Cab 2500 Ram, averaging 15 MPG driving normally, with 75/25 hwy/city. No, that isn't astounding MPG, but for an HD with 3.73s? It isn't bad...
Current 1500s with the MDS (2500-spec engines do not have MDS) routinely net me about 17 MPG, in the same kind of driving. The sub 6 second 0-60 quoted is for the new R/T RCSB model in 2WD...

I don't think this really matters. People who HAVE to have trucks will stop looking at peak horsepower and more of what can I get by with.
Who really cars about 0-60 times in a truck? Do people really need that much horsepower, some people do, but not most. If they do need something with that much power, it will be a diesel anyway.

The Tundra was the "most powerful" half ton for a mere couple months after it came out.
Y'all seem to forget the 403 HP 417 ft-lb torque 6.2L Sierra Denalis.
GM will be adding this engine as an option for the rest of the line-up (but excluding regular cab trucks!
