My other "mystery pic" - Pontiac Pursuit

Remember the Rick Morency concept picture and the two or three mystery cars I found in the background? The two Chevy coupes were found to be the Chevy Cobalt (thanks to formula79 and guionM). Judging by the mirrors and the side body line, this is the Pontiac Pursuit:

Makes one wonder how such a picture could have been taken? I mean, three concept cars in the works! How can this happen?! I love it though.

This is Canada's version of the Cobalt. I imagine we're not getting it because the Solstice would be the new base Pontiac. Sadly, until then, we're stuck with the... (fanfare)... Sunfire!

What! We're not getting the Cobalt???
Why the hell not?

So what will we end up with a "Pursuit GT" for a hopped up model?

Well, you may, or you may not. It's difficult to tell with GM, but I suspect it's going to be the same way things were with the Chevy Metro/Pontiac Firefly.

GM (as well as Ford & Chrysler) commonly release pictures with part of future models in the background, though not usually to that extreme. Latest example: http://autoweek.com/cat_content.mv?p..._code=05708365 There was also a picture of Ford's design studio released last year that clearly was working on Mustang's interior in the background.

There was also a picture released not too long ago of a Ford executive next to what was clearly a Futura, seemingly in final production form.

It does happen time to time, and since the company sets the rules on photography, it's not like they don't know what they are doing.

Has anyone stopped to think that maybe it was done intentionally to create a buzz about the Cobalt?

And JFK was killed by the CIA....

Seriously though, if that was the reason, then where is the buzz. Aside from this board there isn't that much. Of the buzz that exists out there, how much of it involves this picture? None that I've seen.

It's a good theory, but they deleted that photo within a few hours of people asking the question "What is that?"

I think they goofed ... and who was the fat old chick?

In my earlier fraternity days 1980's,the stories that can't be told ....

Talking

Whew, I was worried about ya there for a second!

(BTW: it seems for some reason my PM can't hold more than 4 messages at a time. Is this normal here?)

I think space is very limited. I tried to send you a PM, and it would not accept greater than 1,000 characters.

So I had to edit it, hence, I sound like Caveman ...

Thanks
Ted
