My new 2007 Camaro design for a contest on C&G
Re: My new 2007 Camaro design for a contest on C&G
I like the back shot a lot...looks good and is a good change from the other concepts based mostly on the 1st gens...
I dont care much for the front shot but the back on makes up for it
I kindof like the spoiler...
I'd buy one if the front was more attractive to me. And of course RWD V8 & LSx engine.
I hope they get the 5th gen right. I'd hate to not buy one & represent the Camaro just because it doesnt look cool.

Re: My new 2007 Camaro design for a contest on C&G
here's another pic I did a side shot (without basically "skinning" it) so I could make sure I was doing the front and back pretty consistently. Unfortunately I made it after the front and rear 3/4 so it isn't exact. It did help me correct a few things though.
I'm thinking of doing a slight overhead view so you can see the front end better. In my front 3/4 you can't tell that (in my mind) the front end is very rounded/pointed from above; similar to the Stingray III concept, California Camaro concept, and Pontiac Banshee concept. It isn't meant to look so similar to the C6. :-\

Re: My new 2007 Camaro design for a contest on C&G
If you have the time and ability do me a favor and change the rear lights to double round ones. Similar to the Colbalt, Corvette, impala SS and the ever sexy 70-73 tail lights. I think that would help with tradition and brand identification and on that rear I think it would be nice looking...
Otherwise... thats a darn nice design... I'd buy one!

That car looks magnificent! It's the best 5gen concept I have ever seen. I love how it has some 4gen in it as well as some C6. Very muscular, but modern. And it "looks like" a modern Camaro. Very nice!
Re: My new 2007 Camaro design for a contest on C&G
Excellent job Brandon
. The car looks like an evolution of the 4th gen with a little more headroom added. The C-pillar profile looks alot like that of an SL500 (kinda bubbly but still cool).

WOW! Man, thats REALLY good! Damn...its a evolution of the last gen, but its not! It uses some C6, so you can see the relationship(good)
Short overhangs, and it deffinatly looks like a Camaro.

interior drawing
Okay, finished the interior with all the stuff I'd like. Camaros don't need luxury things in my opinion, but they should have options that can make driving more fun.
-paddle shifters: what I want most of all! Paddle shifters would be great for the Playstation generation who can't hardly use a clutch (heh... me). Some cars have paddle shifters, but most of them have stupid setups. Soem Pontiacs, Mini Coopers, and RX-8s have paddle shifters as far as I know, but they aren't true paddle shifters like the F1 cars and Ferrari 360 have. They just have 'thumb' buttons on the steering wheel, where's the fun in that? I included both thumb shifters and paddle shifters in my drawing.
-manual/automatic shifter: the gray area is where this would be. These would be standard unless you wanted paddle shifters.
-AC controls: I put them in a bad location, but I wanted the vents in a good location so I had to make the sacrifice.
-trigger door handles- I figured Camaro people would really like this invention/innovation of mine. The design might have to be modified so your finger doesn't get stuck, but I really like the idea. Sometimes you have cramp elbow room and have trouble pulling the handle on the 4th gens, with a trigger setup you just *BANG* and it's unlatched.
-CD-mp3 player (can serve as main GPS screen, but not as convenient as the screen on the passenger dash): This would be a touch screen setup, it would be cheaper than all those dials and buttons on a normal CD player I would think, and would just plain look classy. I included the USB drive since I would love to be able to take a couple new songs with me wherever I go without spending 15 minutes burning a CD. For those of you who don't know, a flash drive (pen drive/thumb drive) is a little thing you just plug into a USB port. You can transfer files from your computer onto it in a matter of seconds. They come in sizes from 16 MB to 256 MB usually and are keychain size. If you are going to just go to the store and want to putt 4 or 5 songs on it, take it with you, plug it into the dash and there you have it... surround sound speakers in perfect quality in like 3 minutes or less. I don't think any car stereos are currently USB compatible, so this may be another innovation.
-GPS screen in front of passenger (doubles as DVD screen): This would face the driver or passenger and have a motor inside that would rotate it. It would have a touch screen, display your route, and even play DVDs. It would have a motor in it that would turn the screen to prevent the driver from watching a DVD while driving (it would turn to face the passenger). There would be a lock to prevent tuners from disabling this function; I don't want drivers watching movies while driving.

Re: My new 2007 Camaro design for a contest on C&G
Interior is nice, except for the passanger side LCD screen. I say leave that for Pimp My Ride. We would be lucky to see ONE LCD screen in the Camaro. I do like lay out though, very nice. It reminds me perhaps too much of the Nissan interior design with the guague pod almost seperate from the dash. And its a little too...how do I put this....hilly? Way too many ups and downs and ups and downs of teh dash. I expect it to be a litte bit more flat to give a good view of the road. And it looks too high, like it was in an SUV or something. It needs to be like the car: sleek and smooth.
Re: My new 2007 Camaro design for a contest on C&G
I love the car, but here are a few of my critiques, maybe you could address them.
The lines on the side of the car. I was going to say something about the top line, but I can't pinpoint what the problem is. Something just doesn't look quite right. maybe it's the placement of the bottom two? Maybe it's the spacing? maybe it's the top one? I just don't know.
the headlights look a little mismatched with the car. They need to be unique to the car, not ripped off of the c6 headlights.
Also, from the side-shot, the front fascia looks a little too much '93-'97 camaro to me. Maybe a little more simplified and I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Re: My new 2007 Camaro design for a contest on C&G
I love the look!.......the front headlights that feed off of the new Vett look outstanding.....I also sense a little CLK influence in the rounded rear, taillights and roof line, not that that's is a bad thing, that car is sexy!.....
overall the best looking 5th gen concept I've seen.......I never understood why the push for a look of the first gen (even though I understand the history and apeal) when I think the 4th gen (and an evolution of) looks so much better.........nice "next step" of a 5th........
I'd buy one in a second in Lamans Blue with shale leather interior!!!.....

Those lines are just there to give the car shape really I guess. I really like the lines personally, but I might remove them and show what it looks like without them. They helped cover mistakes in coloring too though

My front view doesn't look that good since I had to trace it from a low resolution print out from before my Windows got corrupted. If I had the time I would redraw it. I like the headlight idea, but they just look weird/bad in the drawing. They are supposed to be much more narrow than the Corvette one's but I didn't figure out a way to show that at the time.

The front end is based on the 4th gen Camaro pretty much, but there are some past concepts that influenced the sideview also though. Like the Corvette indy, Stingray III, Banshee, and California Camaro. If you look at a side shot of a 4th gen, it isn't extremely similar though. I agree that it might be overcomplicated, but I'm personally not ready for a Camaro that doesn't look like a snake's head in the front (one step at a time please
). On a side note, I don't know if this has been pointed out before, but the C6's front end is based directly on the Corvette Indy. I always loved that car, here's a pic: http://www.corvette.nl/pictures/indy_7.jpg

Re: My new 2007 Camaro design for a contest on C&G
Brangeta, while it's a nice design, those lines have been bugging me ever since I saw it over at C & G. While I like the back design, the front and side look like I've seen them somewhere before... and then on my way to the dentist today, I saw it. Those lines are from an old Saturn, the one w/ a slanted nose and the swoopy sides. I don't know what kind of saturn it is, surely someone here knows. Sorry to burst your bubble, I like the drawing, I just don't necessarily want my 5th Gen looking like an old Saturn.
It just doesn't seem aggressive enough for me.
