I wonder if GM stepped to the plate with some sponsorship money? Anyone remember the interview he did with GMHTP magazine.

Harry Turner is at the helm of GM's roadracing. Good guy indeed! He did a great job as manager of the GM drag racing efforts previously. He has strong roots back into the " Chevrolet sporty car" group.
Many here have interest int the inner workings of GM. Here's more about Harry from a Feb '03 release:
DETROIT – GM Racing today announced the appointment of Harry Turner to oversee its road racing activities, including the Corvette C5-R program. Turner succeeds Joe Negri, GM Racing Group Manager for Open Wheel Racing, who will now focus his full attention on Chevrolet Indy V-8 engine development for the increasingly competitive Indy Racing League.
Herb Fishel, Executive Director of GM Racing, announced the personnel changes. The group is responsible for the technical resources and program management of GM vehicle division motorsports programs in North America.
In his new role, Turner will manage the championship-winning Corvette Racing program in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in addition to developing future racing projects. Turner, who has more than 29 years of service with GM including the leadership of championship-winning NHRA and off-road truck programs, was responsible for the original concept that launched the C5-R program in 1996. He will be stationed at GM’s World Headquarters in Detroit, Mich.
"Harry Turner brings a tremendous amount of experience and expertise to this program, which has already been a great success for us,” said Fishel. “With Harry leading our road racing program, we now have one manager for each of GM Racing’s major series. This arrangement allows us to reaffirm our commitment of excellence to all our other areas of motorsport.” With Turner assuming managerial duties for Road Racing, he joins other GM Racing Group Managers Joe Negri (Open Wheel Racing), Doug Duchardt (NASCAR) and Don Taylor (Drag Racing).
Turner succeeds Joe Negri, who will continue to focus attention on the Indy Racing League (IRL), which has become the leading open-wheel series in North America. Facing a heightened level of competition in the series for 2003, GM Racing is committed to maintaining its level of competitive success and is dedicated to winning another IRL championship.
A native of Chicago, Ill., Turner has a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Oakland University.
From 1990 through 1995, Turner was Chevrolet Sporty Car Segment Manager. His product-planning group performed the research, business planning and analysis that helped guide the design and development of the 1993 Camaro and the all new 1997 C5 Corvette. This lead to his 1996 assignment as the Strategic Business Planner for GM Racing in which he conceived and developed the C5-R Corvette race proposal.
From 1997 through 2001, Turner served as Group Manager for the NHRA Drag Racing and the Off-Road Truck Group. Under Turner’s management, GM teams and drivers won every NHRA Manufacturer Championship and every Pro Stock Car and Pro Stock Truck Driver Championship, including 109 of 113 Pro Stock Car National event wins and a perfect 14 for 14 in 2000 and 2001 with the Pro Stock Trucks. His Off-Road programs accomplished Baja 1000 wins in the SCORE Trophy Truck class in 1997, 1998, and 2000 and class wins at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000 including the overall victory in 2000.

The LG team is privately funded with ZERO GM support. Sucks to not fit into GM marketing plan.....
Yup a sweet 1,2 for the caddys. The pole sitter (Italian guy) lost the lead the the AWD audi RS6 at the start (pretty much everyone expected that), but was able to get around him w/o too much difficulty. The second CTS stalled on the grid after the cutch started to engage (heat soak). He came from the very back of the field to catch the lead 4 cars (CTS-V, Audi RS6, Z06 and Viper Comp Coupe), sliced though the 3 other cars and crusied home behind the other caddy. BTW he was lapping 3-4 full seconds a lap faster than the ENTIRE field for pretty much the whole race.
Somehow I think that they will have their performance 'adjusted', beyond the winners penalty weight, to level the field.
