Whats the B-piller? I assume thats the top on the sides of the rear window? Yea, I went for an old AMC / fast back look. :-)

I use 3d Studio max for my modeling and rendering, and then I compiled everything in Adobe AfterEffects.

Thanks for the comments guys! I'll be shooting GM an email

Looks very good to me. I've actually drawn one that has hints of a 2nd gen recently. When I get more done I'll post them.

Nice job with the renderings, but doesn't seem like a feasible design. And too retro.

Well, I see everyone here is a big fan of a redone AMC Javelin.

It's a pretty nice design, but geez guys! Seems you'll jump on anything as a Camaro!

I like it, if you don't, thats fine with me. I'm not trying to say I made the ENTIRE car up, yes I did take styling from the late 60's and early 70's muscle cars. little bit from the vette, AMC, and obviously, the camaro

Cool

Nice modeling work. Did you model in MAX too or did you model in another program then import it? Looks really clean and the lines are crisp. I do hope you're joking about sending an e-mail to GM. They've recieved close to a hundred e-mails about my 5th Gen concept. I haven't heard a word from GM. Not expecting to either. The reality of it all is that they DO NOT accept ANY designs from outside their design studios.

As to the design of your concept, GM would be crazy to go back to those original style headlights, I say this because I was advised to change my design because it had classic style headlamps. Not saying they can't be round, but they would most likely be composite halogens. Take a close look at the SSR or VW Beetle headlights. While looking retro, they are very potent when compared to other modern cars' headlights.

The front of the car looks exactly like a 67-68 Camaro with a knock-off of a body kit an friend of mine is developing.

Everything after the A-Piller (the pillers on either side of the windshield) looks like a 2nd Gen Camaro.

It even looks like you took one or two cues from my car (was featured in PHR) such as the wide scoop on the hood. The overall car reminds me of a Javelin more than a Camaro though.

You might also reconsider your horsepower and torque numbers...GM will never actually TRY to outsell and outdo their baby, the Corvette.

Keep up the good work, nice renderings!

Kris Horton

EDIT: Guion, that's funny, you read my mind, I was typing about the similarities to the Jav as you posted. I mean, I know it looked like one initially, but those comparisons are crazy!

Yes, everything was modeled in Max5, it's the only 3d program I know how to use. It's probably not the best for "accurate" modeling, Rhino 3d would probably be better for that.

which 5th gen is yours? If I did take something from your car, I'm sorry, I tried not to copy anyone directly. I have seen a few 1st gen "retro" concepts, which is what inspired me (along with the poster from CHEVY HighPerformance Magazine of the orange 1st gen with the orange trees in the background!)

I got the wide hood scoop from the 3rd gen hood lines, that come out from the insides of the headlight pockets. I'm thinking of making a custom wide cowl for my 3rd gen that follows those wide hood lines

The wheels are just a 5 spoke design, I made a few 5 spoke wheels, and took this one as the best.

About the HP and Trq specs, yea they are a bit high, and probably not close to what anything would really be.

thats the way I like my HP numbers

I was actualy just joking about sending GM an email. I doubt they want to go back to the good old days... their current concept looks like a Crysler, or a caddy type vehicle. GeneralMotors Mexico wanted me to do some freelance modeling for them, but I guess they gave me the boot, havn't heard from them in over a month

Mine was kind of the design that started it all, not trying to sound full of myself, but my design became kind of a legend overnight, it was scary. A month or so after it was posted on the internet, GMI had a competition for a 5th Gen Camaro, which I couldn't enter due to my working on it for PHR.

I use XSI for modeling and rendering but also own Rhino 3D and a student version of MAX 5.

http://popularhotrodding.com/features/0309phr_5camaro/

Here's my concept from the Sept. issue of PHR. Another version of it is due out around early November.

ahh yes, I have seen that one before!

Actualy, I tried very hard NOT to copy any of your work on that car, I knew every one would say "hey, he copied that guys car!".

Yours actualy inspired me to switch to the 1st gen design though. I was originaly going to base it off of a 3rd gen platform, but decided to go with a 1st gen when I saw how slick yours was

Nice to actualy meet you! My name is Daniel, you can see some of my other models on my website. http://www.danielbuck.net

Do you have any other models?

This one was actualy my first attempt at a concept, all of my other models are models of actual cars. (mostly hotrods and musclecars)

I noticed that, too. I do like it, though. And yeah, Kris's concept has been posted 50 bazillion times on this board and probably many others! But that's because it's a good looking car!

Edit: I wish I knew how to use some of those 3D modeling programs. All I've ever tried is AutoCAD. Until then, I guess I'll just stick to using my hands and ink.
