[QUOTE=Z28x]If the the new Camaro comes out in 2007 just as all those who "need" the new Mustang have one, and it is of better quality than the Mustang while being very competative in price, and is styled right, and has a 3.9L V6, 5.3L V8, and 6.0L LS2 all with 6 speed Manuals and 6 speed automatics, and optional AWD on the 3.9L and 5.3L cars, then yes, I'd say it has a very good chance of breaking 100K units and beating the Mustang in Sales.[QUOTE=Z28x]

Wow, that's a lot to hope for... I just want it to look good not be a POS have a 6 and a ballsy8 and be called Camaro.

I are teh n00b when it comes to the Camero forum... Is something happening to the 5.7L??

Sounds like more of the same:

Time between freshenings (--- = Major redesign):

Mustang
1999 - 2004 - 6 Years
1994 - 1998 - 5 Years
-------
1987 - 1993 - 7 Years
1979 - 1986 - 8 Years
-------
1974 - 1978 - 4 Years

Camaro
1998 - 2002 - 5 Years
1993 - 1997 - 5 Years
------
1982 - 1992 - 10 years

Yeah, the 5.7 is being canned and replaced by the 6.0.
I think 100k units is more than realistic as long as the plant is capable of producing that many CamAros.

I am not surprized, its kind of hard to give "retro" a freshening. DCX will give it a try with the PT, we will have to watch and see what happens with the PT. DCX will have to be careful, change it to much and the PT will not be a PT anymore.

Whats next for the Mustang.....a retro styled Mustang II

So, until the end of the decade? That's 5 - 6 years, and while may appear a little high, is not anything new. WERM posted some good numbers to keep in mind.

What I noticed other manufacturers doing is simply changing headlights/taillights, or adding some trim pieces (such as current Jetta), or removing boddy cladding. Is this considered a refreshening?

if you can divide the 4th gens up, you can divide the third gens. 1982-1984 can be one group, then the IROC's 1985-1990, then the Z28's from 91-92. Or go with engines. Then with the engiens, the TPI 305 in 85 and then the TPI on the 350 in 87.

And after the Mustag gets to about 73...I think we all know whats gunna happen then. Mustang II time fellas.

Sometimes. I think Ford has refreshened their Crown Victoria so many times that they've lost count Some cars only need small things changed and they look quite different (WRX) IMO.

I don't get what's so hard about it. You face the same issues as you would just like any other redesign. You taper here, widen here, give this area a bit more rake, take a little off here, add a new element there,etc... You start with the current car as a starting point, and make as many changes/revisions as you'd like . Who said a modern retro-inspired car (with sn95 influences as well) can't evolve? Not a new or groundbreaking concept really.

If i didn't stink at photoshop so bad, i could probably come up with my own redesign of the 05. There's a lot i would change on that car without making it look completely different.

Good #'s werm, 5 years between redesigns isn't anything extreme or new for camaro or mustang. Like i said earlier, new motors and special editions (with different looks/wheels/etc...) will inject a bit of excitment and freshness into the mustang lineup throughout those 5 years.

I think Ford should have kept going with the SN95 design, and not 3 steps back to the original.

yup.

they redid teh front clip and minor stuff all over the car, along with new, EFI engines midspan.

just like the 4thgens.

so its both 10 year spands each, with minor tweeks midway.... honestly, new bolt on fenders is no big deal..

btw, noone pointed out how long the fox body chassis has been around.... lol

in anycase, i like the way the new mustang looks... and if it doesnt weigh a ton, and if it has the interior room (im not a small guy) i may consider buying one

Yep, followed by the fox and 94-04 generation but then... comes the 05 generation again!!! Will this cause a rift in the time/space continuum?

You wouldn't have bought one anyway, so why should Ford give a hill of beans about what you think?

Guess we'll just have to wait and see, big guy.

I predict that it will suck to be you when Mustang sales and the aftermarket are strong, whilst you **** and moan about not having a vastly superior Camaro to buy. Bummer.

For those of us that are actually performance enthusiasts, we will hope that Mustang and other RWD V8 sales are strong, so that competition will be strong, so that the breed (if you'll pardon the pun) will be improved.
