Mustang rules??
Mustang rules??
Hi I have a new 05 mustang, (coundnt get a new camaro right?) and 3 camaros. One thing the stang has all over the camaro is aftermarket performance parts. I think tire rack has at least 75 different rims combos, and there are a least 5 supercharger kit and 3 turbo kits. You can make 500 hp EASY. Do you think the aftermarket will step up with goodies when a new camaro comes out?

Re: Mustang rules??
Yeah, but the problem is, Mustang needs "Stage 1" and "Stage 2" just to catch up to the LS1 cars
. Camaros are already "all grown up" and can skip right to the "Stage 3" setups
. That's why it seems there's less out there for them!
When you can show me a naturally-aspirated Mustang with a few bolt-ons and a camshaft putting ~450 HP to the wheels, then I'll start listening!

Really? Since the Camaro's from 1967 thru 2002 used the same bolt pattern, there is also a large collection of wheels and tire combo's available. Plenty of performance parts for Camaros'. Just pick your year.
I'm guessing the next gen Camaro will be just as supported.
So your point is what?

I don't think so...Fbodies have always seemed pretty uniform to me...doesn't keep me from lovin em tho
Re: Mustang rules??
I agree that there is more for the Mustang, but I don't think there is a lack of parts for F bodies...at all actually. Everything I have wanted to do to my Camaro, I have done with ease...and could do a whole lot more. Brakes, suspension, engine mods, interior mods, body mods...its all there. For me personally, SLP has been and will be (so long as I can order from their ever-dwindling selection of parts) the supplier of choice. My Camaro has SLP bolt on subframe connectors, strut tower brace, CAI, 2OTL exhaust (which they don't make anymore
), airfoil, and I just added the SLP Level 1 Bilsteins this past week. The car, in my mind, while not radical is now complete. I put a kick-*** stereo in it when I first bought it, and down the road I will add cross-drilled rotors and maybe 17" American Racing Torq Thrust IIs. I have done everything I wanted, and based on what I have seen at BG the last 2 years, there is so much more I could do if I wanted to.
What do I want to see? Over-the-counter, quality, REASONABLY PRICED GM Performance Parts for a 5th gen. It seems like GMPP forgot some GM cars actually don't have carburetors, and actually have to pass smog checks. Every crate motor is for off road use. Every cam seems to be for off road use, outside of the LT4 hot cam and kit. Now that my uncle has retired, I have no speed shop I trust to work on my car. I am willing to pay dealer labor rates to have mods done to my car, especially if they are quality parts that won't void warranties and are reasonably priced. Look at what Ford Racing does for the Mustang. That is what I want for the Camaro.
I can already picture my 5th gen "RS" 5.3/M6 with a set of Torq Thrust IIs and a catback rumbling down the road...yummy

Re: Mustang rules??
Tell me if im wrong........but the mustangs have a HUGE aftermarket for apperance stuff....why???? Because there UGLY and need some serious help. Now the Cobras are differnt they actually looked good. But the Mustang V6 and the GTs are just ugly......I also agree on them needing a bigger performance market then the camaro i mean duh...if a v6 camaro can beat a gt mustang then yea they need more aftermarket.

You should be happy that the Mustang exists and is/has/willl be doing well, because if it didnt, you wouldnt have that happy little bowtie you covet so much... nor would you be getting a 5th gen.
Why is there aftermarket support? Because people BUY it. LOTS of it.
And for those of you that want to play the game of 'my camaro came with 23423523452 HP stock', remember that the field isnt exactly level.
