Mustang build numbers

I am looking for some numbes on 05 Mustangs. Like total production and GT VS V6.

Any sites that have what I am seeking?

Someone thinks the GT production is real low. I say its probably around 50/50 but just want to prove them wrong.

I think that someone is closer to correct than you, though I cannot point you to a definative source. Seems it was along the lines of 65/35 or even 70/30.

I'll try to find a source.

some one said the 04's were that ratio---and then said the 05s were 50/50...who knows

Re: Mustang build numbers

If the dealers coula got enuff GT's to satisfy demand , I think the GT would have handily outsold the 6 pot .

Thumbs up Re: Mustang build numbers

The October 2005 issue of 5.0 Mustangs and Super Fords states that "a full 70 percent of new Mustangs are the GT model" and goes on to comment that the GT is "more profitable for Ford".
I've seen more GT's on the road and on lots than V6's.

I think 5.0 @ SF has their figures wrong. Can't prove it yet, but I think they're quite backwards.

And in The Tidewater area, V6s outnumber GTs by a significant margin - both on the street and most certainly on the lots.

Re: Mustang build numbers

Didn't ford have a policy in place that a dealer had to order so many V6's to get GT's? Something like 60%/40%?

Around here , its total opposite . By far more GT's that 6 bangers . I see more V6 cars on lots , but thats only because the GT's sell almost instantly , even the $30K plus verts . There one day gone the next .

Re: Mustang build numbers

Ford Mustang currently has just over 44% of the specialty coupe market. This includes everything from 350Zs to Chrysler Sebrings. Limit to just sports coupes, and Mustang has well over half (around 70% +/-).

As of July 31, this calender year, Ford sold 106,588 Mustangs.

Current GT/V6 mix is 40/60. Early shortages of GTs produced a mix of under 38/62.

There is and was never a policy regarding what a dealer "must" sell in order to get a GT. If the customer or dealer ordered it, the customer or dealer got it, though there were shortages as Ford misguessed the ratio (traditionally 35/65). Same happened last year with Chrysler regarding the 300 & Magnum.

Roughly 43,000 Mustang GTs have been put on the street since January.

In 8 months, Ford sold more 2005 Mustang GTs ALONE than all of the 2002 Camaros Chevrolet sold over Camaro's 15 month model year (41,777- June'01 to Aug '02).

Wanted to point that out for the out of touch "More-Horsepower-will-cure-everything/Next-Camaro-must-be-faster-than-Mustang-to-compete" crowd.

Re: Mustang build numbers

That's kind of what I thought, though a bit more GTs than my guestimate.

Thanks.
