Mustang based Cougar?

According to what I've read, this is the next Cougar.....and yes, it's based on the new Mustang.

IMO...One thing is for sure. Where I went "Ewww" with the mustang, I'm going "Nice!" with this car.

Yup...Me Likeee. This could be a car I may replace my Camaro with. Maybe It'd have to be just right though!

I like this better than the Mustang too. (That doesn't mean I like it though... )

I kind of had a thought in my head that Ford might consider bringing Cougar back on the Mustang platform after the FWD one went away...

As soon as i saw those picyures, I knew it was Mustang based. It's not retro, but it is still ugly as hell.

I saw that thing on a local TV show called Autoline Detroit. The guy from Ford who was showing it said it basically had no hope of being produced and it's only purpose is to give the message that the Mercury brand is not dead.

Also, when I saw it on TV I thought it looked alright, but looking at it from those pictures, especially the front of the car makes me want to .

In my opinion, it looks like one of those futuristic Hot Wheels from the 70's. With that in mind; I don't think it's a bad design per se, just not sure if the styling carries over well from toy to transportation.

I like it better than the Mustang. This seems to be more original.

If the Cougar comes back, I hope it looks a lot better than that. The front and rear ends do nothing for me at all.

I'm thinking Lancia Stratos, especially from the rear 3/4 view...

To me this car looks like a retro-concept. It looks like a modern interpretation of the concept cars that came out in the 60s and 70s.

The side profile is cool, but the front and back of the car need to be reworked badly. I dont like the wheels that much either.

I don't care for the frontend but it is a good start.

Hmm...

This could very well be the Hot Wheels car I remember (it's been about 20 years since I last saw it).

After seeing this and making a mental adjustment; perhaps Ford is on to something here...
