Both GuionM and Z284ever bring up valid points.

So is VE just another version of Sigma? How different can they be?

I bet their is VERY little difference between the two.

Lutz seems quite pleased with this new platform as a less-expensive V8/RWD solution than the Sigma (it is cheaper than Sigma...that's a big difference). He was quoted as saying this will show up in Pontiac and Chevy models, possibly as soon as 2005.

So the V8/RWD Monte Carlo rumors for 2005 are probably true. The 2007 Camaro seems on track. It's about time.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again. Don't automatically assume that the Monte Carlo is going RWD, or will even survive past 2005.

It may in fact become a RWD car or it's name may end up dead. How many of you refered to the upcomming midsize Pontiac or compact Chevrolet replacements as Grand Am and Cavalier just a month or 2 ago?

A RWD Monte Carlo is far from a certainty right now. 6-8 months ago, it was headed to the bone yard in 2005, so don't bet the farm just yet.

Guion I can only think of one thing that might show the similarities between Insigna and the Sigma chassis. If anyone can find out the cowl hieght on the Insigna. That, if I remember correctly, is one of the main reasons why a lowslung coupe couldn't be built on the true Sigma structure. If Insigna has a relatively low cowl height then that means that VE/Sigma light isn't just a rehashed Sigma there are differences. Lets see if we can figure this out.

That's something I've been thinking of too.

What would you say if I told you that Insignia was built off of a well worn CTS donor car?

BTW, here are some dimensions.

As for struts, let's not put a blanket condemnation on them. Doesn't a BMW 3 series use them and the 4th gen use a variation of them as well? Both have stellar reputations as top handling cars over vehicles with more sophisicated front suspensions.

Low cost doesn't always mean low performance. If you want a great deal in your next Camaro, then be ready to pay a great deal for your next Camaro.

Senior Holden guy at Frankfurt show: "It (Insignia) is interesting, but it's not relevant to what we're doing."

If Sherlock Holmes were reading this, he would conclude:

A) GM is completely full of crap in the description of this "new" architecture and it's depiction of it as a "world RWD platform"

OR.............

B) VE will be mainly for Holden.

BTW, when this senior Holden guy said "we're"....was he refering to Holden specifically or GM?
