Smile More VE info!

I have taken 2 articles both from Motor Mag in Aus. They can be found here. (1.4meg) The first is on the HFV6, VZ Commodore and a little info on VE. Second is on the GenIV V8 I'm going to put it up on here since most people outside of the southern hemisphere wont get to see it

A couple of things of note, in the first article it says Holden will use GM's 5L40 A5 with the HFV6, but from a guy that has had a ride in one it is an Aisin A5. I'm not 100% on that tho. It also shows pics of front and rear suspension, but is that from the CTS? if yes then those pics are not of the VE suspension

And final thing, in the first pic the guy in the back of the CTS sure has a good grip of the handle

Great article! Good read....I love the part about the multi-valve pushrod....and a possible A6 for the Gen IV? Pretty nifty stuff.

You have to admit, that SS looks mean in that picture.

so holden will basically borrow the cts's basic suspension design, but will improve it even further while making it out of cheaper cost saving materials(steel instead of alloys)? sounds good!!!

is that why they are flogging that cts mule in aussie, to try and find any weaknesses?

Great articles!

Random comments on both articles:

I liked the 6.0 article the most and that side bar about the bolt on 3v heads was the most intriguing. The XV8 I believe had 3v heads, and it seems like this technology might be making its way to the Gen IV. For a while I thought the Gen IV was going to be a dual in-block camshafts operating 3v heads, but then the news seemed to indicate it was going to continue the single cam 2v head configuration. 3v heads would give the Gen IV so much more breathing power at high RPM's! It'd be an easy way to increase power.

The 6.0 article mentioned that the Gen IV will come in 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, and 6.2L versions. I thought the C6 Z06 would eventually get a 6.4L version?

I knew Cadillac and Holden were working together a lot, but I had no idea of the degree! That first article was really interesting to read to understand the deepness of the Cadillac-Holden relationship. Cadillac developing the high end car and Holden the low end car makes so much sense now.

Once again, great find!

Bingo!

I'll put this on the "1 stop" thread.

I wish it gave more info on the front suspension.
The part about the rear suspension was interesting.
My sources have also hinted to me that the VE's IRS may have better dynamics than Sigma's.

Good article indeed. Hmmm, kinda weird that a Australian mag knows more about the future of GM than our crap magazines here.

great article
question though
i'm curious about the 3v head thing
if you did 2 exhaust you'd have your basic dohc package
would it be cheaper to do 4v run by a single cam with one lifter operating both intake valves, and 1 lifter operating both ex valves
or...
just going with dohc?
forgive me if its a stupid question

Ah well, you'll find more if you just up and buy it. An $8 cover price is only US$4 after all.

Don't suppose you'd be interested in the latest issue. We've found stuff on GM's 406ci 470 hp Gen IV to drop into the C6 and bash Vipers...

Mickey T, is Motor Mag even available in the US? (I have my copy on my bookshelf ) If you don't want/like those articles up on the internet just ask and I will take it down asap

BTW, if you are chasing info (VE etc), guionM seems to be the best person to ask around here

we have just done a deal to sell 3000 or so into the US every month (not big numbers, but it's a start). If you like, i can find out the closest outlets to you, or you can just hook up on www.magshop.com.au and follow the links to our subscription page.
By the way, interested in seeing some of our sideways stuff in the Monaro (cough, sorry, GTO)?

I'm in Australia if you didn't notice so I can walk 70m down the road to get my copy :P

Is there any other way other the sideways? Some may have been seen on here already from the coty preview cd, but i'm sure most of these guys would be happy to see more :P
