Mostly stuff about Saab, but some interesting comments down the bottom of the article.

Also from here, there is some info on the next boss of Holden. Also says that the first shipment of GTOs will leave aus on the 21st of October. And Holden hopes to have the VE RWD platform deal finalised by the end of the year.

I find it interesting that Bob Lutz is now calling the VE a "premium RWD architecture".

I don't care what he calls it...as long as I can purchase a V8, RWD car in the next 4 years, he can call the platform its on whatever the hell he wants

However, I don't like what GM is doing to Saab. Rather than let Saab be Saab, and have their own creative thinking and car line, they're getting lost in GM corporatism. A RWD Saab? AWD maybe...but RWD goes against one of the cores of Saab...same way a Trailblazer derived Saab does.

I am by no means a major fan of Saab...but it is sad to see a truly unique car company becoming more and more mainstream. Before GM bought out a majority interest, Saab was doing well. By cancelling new programs and ignoring it for awhile, only now to bring about new products based on other cars, is Saab destined to be nothing more than a Chevy with a Swedish accent? A shame if it comes true...it probably will.

Yeah Jason, I agree about SAAB. A large RWD SAAB? Will it have a smallblock Chevy too?

SAAB seems to be on a roll with the 9-3 variants. I wonder if GM is about to ****** defeat out of the jaws of victory again.

The 9-3 is based on the Epsilon platform shared with the Opel Vectra (don't know if it's used in the US yet). I think there is room for Saab to be "quirky" are share platforms too.

BTW - "dinkum" is slang for genuine (don't use it myself ...)

The Epsilon platform is the basis of the Chevy Malibu here in the States and also the upcoming Grand Am err I mean G6
