More 4dr Turbo...300hp + AWD

Maybe already posted, but here's the latest specs on the US-bound STi version of the WRX for '04 (with facelift).

300hp, 300lb-ft, 2.5 dohc Turbo, 6 spd plus the cool DCCD which lets driver set torque distribution to as much as 65% to the rear wheels. Price not set, but est. $30k and to arrive in limited quantites (4-5k) like Mitsu Evo.

The brakes on it looks nice.. 4 piston brembo's.. 12.7" fronts..

Doesn't sound too too bad for $30k..

Now they'll probably be just as fast as 4th gen F-bod's..

I sure would like to. I like the notion of the GTO, but I'm pretty happy with my car--and this is my car + more of everything. I expect some pretty nice price gouging though with the limited quantity. Maybe in a year or two. I think this car is a more tasteful than the Mitsubishi, and Subaru should have better reliablity.

But Ken's right--no one's safe anymore. It'll be one fast econobox.

The 2003 is 227hp with a 2L I4 - 20/27 mpg...

The 2004 with a 2.5L I4 I must assume will get worse milage, perhaps 19/25 or 18/25 even...

And with a $30k pricetag, I wouldnt consider it an econobox.

I would consider it a nice, fast, fun, all-seaon, grocery getter.

Well, I get about 24-25mpg with mine consistently--which is a lot better than I did with my LT1 Firebird with the same level of enthusiastic driving (which was closer to 19-21mpg). So I don't consider 20/27 and the 24 avg I get poor, especially for a performance car. Keep in mind that '04 will also have an extra gear, so I'd look for it to stay in the same ballpark.

But I agree, I don't really consider it an econobox (and certainly isn't in the pure, fuel economy sense)...but that's the perception of these cars on here (ho-hum 4 dr import). Especially at $30k, I don't consider it "basic, economic transportation." Of course, "nice, fast, fun, all-season grocery getter" is as close to a compliment as will show up on here. A grocery getter that runs the same ETs as LT1 F-bodies I remind you. And the AWD really paid off in the heavy snow a couple weeks ago. If livable, practical, and easy to get in and out of when a car is parked next to you are draw backs, I guess I'll deal with it. And even the looks grow on you! btw, none of that meant to ruffle any feathers).

Anyways, the wagons are cool; I hope they continue to offer it in that trim.

Very impressive. I'm not big on that styling but everything else makes up for it.

wow those HP #'s sound good, there won't be any for less than MSRP if they are only selling 4,000 of them. The new Camaro Z28(if there ever is one) will have to be about 375HP to stay ahead of all these new cars coming out. I also can't wait to see GM's response to these cars with the turbo or S/C '05 Grand am. pretty soon every new car out will be doing 14's. You got to love a HP war!!!

The AWD is the best part. Granted the 300hp is respectable to say the least, and a 24-25mpg mix is damn near respectable (mix hwy/city?) But my "spirited" driving that I have with my z28 compared to my GSX nailed me an average of 17-18mpg out of it, where my z28 averages more along 20 - well it did, when emissions were hooked up and it was tuned better. Now it's all out of whack.

Yes, getting in and out, AWD, and 4 doors.

You want good gas milage and power? how about 2002 Z06 Vette, 405HP and 28MPG hwy wait until the C6, it will be lighter and have DOD, it should get low 30's MPG Highway with over 400HP

And the rice boys will loose the "gas milage" comment
I'm hoping 21/32 and 450hp... Got my GM credit card with a few hundred credit all set to go!

Saw 50th anniv. Vette in the showroom yesterday. THe sticker said its gas milage on the hwy was 30.53 mpg. Why so precise, don't know, but it's really good.
