Mopar fans
Re: Mopar fans
Somehow, GM has been castrated and seems to be unable/unwilling to offer anything like an "SRT" line.
Don't even start with the "SS" packages..... pretty..... but pretty weak.

Re: Mopar fans
I just got back from Vegas for a trade convention. My wife and I spent Sunday at the "beach" at Manadalay. As we were walking back to our rooms, we spot 8 cars behind velvet ropes. Just so happens, SRT was doing something at Mandalay. There was the SRT4, 6, SRT8 C, Mag, Charger, Grand Cherokee, SRT10 Ram, SRT10 QC, and an SRT10 Viper Coupe. I thought all of them looked great. Outside at the front of the hotel, they had a regular 300C, a Mega Cab, and a Commander. In the parking lot next to the Manadalay Bay center, they set up an autocross course that they were doing autocrossing with a GTO, 2005 Mustang GT, C6, CTSV. Must have been some type of Mopar appreciation. I think all SRTs are cool, and when the market cools off (high price OVER msrp), I plan on getting a Magnum or Charger SRT8.
Re: Mopar fans
SRT is strictly hardcore performance though. Almost all their vehicles (except for the SRT4 neon) are Rwd and have 425+ horses. By comparison, Chevy currently has only ONE SS that's not Fwd and that's the TB SS which is available in AWD/Rwd....rest are Fwd and not as powerful as SRT line. Quite a difference actually. SRT's overuse isn't much of an issue in my opinion. I actually like it.
I think everyone's got to admit, they have some serious machines, no wonder there starting to do so well...
Still love to see a "turbo" counterpart for the 'lil Neon. The Ecotech's a PERFECT, solid platform for a serious turbo specialty car, like maybe a Pontiac counter part for the Cobalt SS. It's been a while since Pontiac had a turbo car...wait, isn't the Solstice gonna try one?...hmmmmm.

Cobalt SS > SRT-4
Vette > SRT-6 Crossfire
Z06 > SRT-10 Viper
CTS-V > 300C SRT-8
Ram SRT-10 > Silverado SS
Charger SRT-8 > GTO (this is a very close one for me, if you don't like automatics then the GTO wins hands down)
Jeep vs. Trailblazer is also too close to call. I'd proably take the TB, but I'd have to see them both in person first.

Re: Mopar fans
I would disagree with the assertion that the CTS-V>SRT8C. The performance difference for acceleration and top speed is neglible, some favoring the C, some the CTS. The C comes with bigger 4 piston Brembos, and is tons cheaper. With the extra $, one could get Dynatech long tubes and a Magnaflow exhaust which would nullify the advantage. And if you really wanted to kill the CTS, you could get a GSM/Paxton Novi blower which when coupled with the aforementioned exhaust mods will put 550 to the wheels. And as far as the TB versus the GC, it is noted that the GCSRT is the fastest, and quickest accelerating SUV out there, beating even the Cayenne Turbo. So I only see one win for GM, that being the Z06>Viper Coupe. Price for performance, with the exception of the GTO, ZO6 is definitely in DCXs favor. (Wherein performance is the criteria)

Cobalt ss gets its lunch money stolen by SRT4.

Re: Mopar fans
I'm a huge fan of the SRT line. I like an automaker that can come out with a performance line and give it the grunt to back it up. The only two cars I'd take over SRT's is the Z06 and Cobalt SS.
Im a huge Vette fan and I love the new Z but the Viper is also pretty killer.
I like the SRT-4, having driven one and ridden in one but I just cant get over the Neon-ness of it. The Cobalt is more refined package and its a coupe. I do favor the SRT-4's turbo exhaust burble however. You nail the accelerator then let off to slow down for traffic and the exhaust note just comes crashing down, sounding badass in the process. Cant wait for a turbo Solstice....

Not to say it isnt a cool car, but looks wise, its hard to say a Neon derivitive isnt feminine.
Re: Mopar fans
I'm not a big fan of 4-door sports cars, unless done like the RX8. But high 13 second passes from a turbo 4-cyl makes me a fan. The hood scoop and spoiler help. Good competition for say, a WRX-sti...that is until this next one ups the power level by 30 or so more HP. But most 4-door verions, to me, say female or family...
