What if it sucks more for us than for Mustang?

It seems ironic and fitting Monaro is to bow out in Australia... They filled a hole for us by producing a great two door coupe under the General's unbrella just before the F-Body began it's "hybernation" - now we get to keep the Holden champion's spirit alive almost like a thank you...

All of a sudden I think the Europeans got off lucky with only the 'blunt, high nose pedestrian impact safety' standard....

Re: Monaro ending production...

Good grief!

Can't we go over a month without some unwarranted pessimistic doom and gloom. Gezzzz! This reminds me of the "No more 3 spoke steering wheel future standard" the "Camaro is going to be bigger than GTO rumor" and other assorted stuff that's put people in a panic. Does anyone really believe that

The 50 mph impact standards simply means the fuel tank is moved to underneath the back seat. Exactly where it is with the Mustang (which was built to compliance), as well as Sigma.

Gotta learn who to listen to and who not to.

I get a feeling this came from the same inside people who said passed those BS rumors that Holden's Zeta engineering was substandard and haphazard when it's that they had their own agenda and used some of us to help their own cause.

BTW: for those of you about to slit your wrist because you somehow think the 5th gen's gonna grow to 3800 pounds, let me direct your attention to the fact that there's a phalynx of cars thats going to weigh well under 3800 pounds.

.......Yeah, I'm calling a BIG on this one.

Thanks for the reality check Guy. Even myself, who truly believes Scott and "others" was worried about that last point.

Re: Monaro ending production...

I hope everything goes peachy.....but the new Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards which will be phased in and will require 100% compliance by 9/1/11...are going to be a bear.

One thing is certain....they will add weight and size to everything they're applied to.

So is that the "Fusion Orange" (Brazen Orange Metallic is apparently replaced by fusion) that's going to be replacing "yellow jacket" on the 2006 GTO?

Re: Monaro ending production...

Anyone want to bite at this one??

ive been told today that the monaro tooling has been sold to gm so the monaro can be made in the us, seems that 6lt GTO sales have taken off and with the small amount of cars they could import us production had to happen.

Re: Monaro ending production...

Back to the main topic... it says Monaro production will end... and GTO will live on...

Does that mean the current GTO will carry on until a replacement is ready?
