A modified Chevy Coupe poll

This is to cover a neglected segment of the Camaro buying population If they renamed the car, what would it do to your buying habits?

At this rate and the lack of enthusiasm in RP's homework assignment it looks like GM's decision on the name of the car is gonna be an easy one sadly.

Re: A modified Chevy Coupe poll

It would suck if the Camaro name doesnt return but if Chevy makes a car that fills the Camaro gap and I like THE CAR. I will buy it. A zeta Camaro is a major departure from the F-car twins f-car only chassis.(I know 1st gens were majorly reworked nova underpinnings)

The next Camaro would be a Camaro in name only. It is a Aussie platform that it will share with 4 door sedans ect.... We are looking at a 4-6 year absence and the return a a platform that just doesnt fit the Camaro tradition. It will be a modern sport coupe more alo0ng the lines of a bargain priced V8 M3. It will be as much a Camaro as the GTO is a GTO.

You have absolutely no idea what that machine is going to look like.

None.

I'll leave you with this word of caution:

In the General Motors world, there are trucks, Chevrolet and Cadillac. Chevrolet does not dance to the tune of Pontiac or Buick.

See, Chevrolet moves the iron, and ever since Fisher Body was around, Chevrolet generally gets what Chevrolet wants.

THE question is, what exactly does Chevrolet want?

Bob Lutz is not some tyrant on high. He listens to people and has a management style that challenges them, EXPECTING TO BE TOLD if he's off base or not.

The issue can come down to whether or not anyone has the guts to tell him something that disagrees with his view.

You could say the same thing about the new Mustang as well. Updated and advanced underpinnings compared to the rough, outdated one Mustang fans are used to. Does that make it any less a Mustang?

Fact is, its pretty heavily rumored the car has alot of Camaro design cues in it, so IMO, the Camaro name NEEDS to be on it! Market the car GM, get the freakin word out and the sales will come in and the stereotypes will leave. Sheesh.

Re: A modified Chevy Coupe poll

wow, a bargin priced V8 M3? Isn't that hoping for the best, in terms of performance? Even if they called it a Camaro and looked nothing like a Camaro, I'd still buy it then! I'll just debadge it..

But who really knows what its going to look it?

So, your saying that if Chevy makes the "Perfect car" for you but its not called Camaro you would by a car that suits your needs less?

This souds stupid....

Perfect: (pûrfkt)
adj.
Lacking nothing essential to the whole; complete of its nature or kind.

You see...lacking something essential to the whole...like the right name, makes the "perfect car"....imperfect.

Re: A modified Chevy Coupe poll

Ok I'll rephrase it.......

If the Chevy Coupe better suits your desire in car but does not have the Camaro name you would choose one that less suits your wants and needs?

Now thats as stupid as Z284evers reply.....

The assumption there is that the Chevy Coupe NOT called Camaro suits my desires more than a Chevy Coupe CALLED Camaro.

Gimme the better car AND call it Camaro.......

The point is, a "perfect" Chevy coupe is not truly perfect until it wears the Camaro name. I can certainly respect that opinion!

Id either not buy it, or buy it and rebadge it to Camaro Z/28 like it should be.
