Messed Up Saturn Sky
I decided to check out the Challenger forum to see if any one had picked up one of those hot babies yet, given the dealership are killing on the Markup of the new arrivals. I found this post from a guy mentioning that the Camaro looked like a messed up Saturn Sky and the Challenger was so much better looking. On that site, I also read an article from a vehicle comparer that mentioned the New Camaros may do 0 to 60 in 4 seconds!!! Check it out:
well i went to my friends cafe here in miami yesterday and my dad calls me up and goes i just saw the challenger. i said yea right shut up. he goes no its here on maricle mile at the carnival arts festival . i didnt believe him so i went to find out for myself i walk across the street and behild there was a chrysler stand with 3 different chryslers. i took a left and went down the street finally the dodge section. the challenger was there in all its glory. it was a black srt8 i took pictures but i tried to post im not sure how to if someone is kind enough to explain. anywayz my opinion about the chally is its beautiful, im am soooo glad they stuck with the lx platform because if not the car wouldnt look long enough to resemble the old one. i noticed they cut a bit of the front end but they make up for it in the wide long back end which is the best feature of the car. the only thing i was mad at were people passing by going wow looks just like the old one, man that car is nice too bad i cant afford the gas, yea the gas is rediculous for me to get this car. i stepped up and informed them of the v6 and lower v8s coming out. they did have dodge representatives there answering any questions about the car but doesnt seem like many people were asking just stunned at the car in their presence. there was also a green viper the new one with the new metallic green color. i hope they use that as the sublime instead of the daytona sublime or w.e it is. all in all im glad i ordered it in black even though i could see the swirl marks on the car. the rear end was so mean the interrior looked very nice all except the steering wheel lol. but man you guys have to see this car in person sooo much better looking than the camaro. the camaro looked like a messed up saturn sky and was about the same size when i went to the miami beach auto show, but well see what they make of it. if the pictures dont show explain to me how to post them and i will. i tried the upload embed thing already.

Check this out... this Challenger almost looks like a Camaro and has a sunroof!

Some guy that can't type for crap doesn't like the looks of the new Camaro when compared to the Challenger... Seriously, he even goes on to say that he's seen the Camaro and its roughly the same size as a Sky. How informed could he be?
Not everyone is going to like Camaro. Deal with it. I'm sure the members here don't mind seeing the pictures of the Challenger, but IMHO it seems like this was an attempt to start a pissing match about his opinion of the Camaro's looks.

The Challenger is bigger, but it also has different portions and styling, which (imho) make it feel bigger and bulkier - which is where it should be.
But dimensions are meaningless - its the wheelbase, weight on the wheels and how the weight is distributed that I care about
.
They're "close" in size, but its all relative. The new Camaro is seriously gigantic compared to the Sky though. Not saying the sky is small (like 90's miata or S2000 small) but its small compared to the Camaro.

I due to same thing. I just assume bigger = heavier.
Dear Matthew,
First, your supersized pictures are ridiculous. Of all 1 million pictures of the Dodge Challenger floating around the internet since it's February introduction, it seems you basically downloaded a actual sized billboard to attach to your post. To be honest, this tends to bug the living crap out of people, including myself. If you are actually trying to get people who don't know you from Adam to really dislike you, that's a pretty flawless way to start.
Next up, the Dodge Challenger is not available yet. It was "introduced" in production form last month, but regular production is still many weeks away, and Challenger SRT8s won't be showing up in showrooms for a number of weeks after that.
Third, if you can't afford the gas for a Challenger, then pray tell what the hell are you talking about when you say you ordered a Daytona in black "even though you could see the swirl marks in the paint"? If you can afford the gas for an R/T, you can afford the gas for an SRT8, being the difference in gas costs is miniscule compared to the difference in price.
Finally, I have a very bad issue with you saying the Camaro looks like a messed up Saturn. You either need glasses or a frontal lobotomy or both. The Camaro looks nothing like a Sky. A Sky is a 2 seat sports car that has far more with a Corvette in looks than with a Camaro. I don't know, but unless you got whaled on repeatedly on the nogging with a pipe wrench, I don't see how anyone could streach that far to say one car looks like a messed up version of the other. How about explaining what you mean "messed up"??
My guess is that your enthusiasm for the Challenger threw your logic out of whack, and we felt the need to make a post that had something like a nonosecond worth of though put into it (ignoring the lack capitalizations, high school text phone spelling and "Check It Out" exclaimations).
I will agree with you 100% that the Challenger is a fantastic car. It looks great in person. Chrysler bucked the norm by putting the SRT version out first. The car is big and muscular like a modern version of a '60s muscle car (as opposed to a "Pony Car"). A Challenger R/T with a 6 speed manual is on my radar screen if I choose to buy a brand new car over the next 12 months.
However, the post had the feel of one of those "MySpace" spams that inject cool words, illogical enthusiasm, and comparisons that simply wouldn't make sense in any alternate universe one happens to dwell.
You can call this a flame if you wish, however, in this instance, it's entirely deserved.

Except one.
That billboard sized pic that requires me to scroll a yard across the screen to read is irritating.
