Not bad... while not a whole lot different looking than the Escape, it does get rid of some of the 'toy car' look that I see when I look at an Escape.

Funny how blatant rebadging in cars is bad, yet it's the standard for trucks/suvs.

I don't get Mercury's new names. The Aviator doesn't fly, and I'll bet the Mariner does NOT float. I guess all the logical SUV names are taken.

It starts with the letter "M". That seems to be the only requirement.

What's up with the name? "Mercury Mariner" sounds like an outboard motor.

It's about time that Ford started rebadging more models as Mercuries. I never understood why they were so intent on depriving the Mercury division of product. Funny name aside, this is another good move for the Mercury brand.

If an initial "M" is the only requirement, they should have taken that butt-ugly Explorer/Ranger truck thing combo with the useless short bed, installed a barbeque in the bed, and called it the Mercury Marinator.

Alot of Merc's products are in the pipeline,They wont have their "own" cars til the begining of 05/06.But you have to keep in mind they have alot of room to grow. They only offer 3 vehicles as of now other then whats left of the Cougar on their lots.

Why will they not have any of their "own cars" until 0506?

Because they already have their plans for the vehicles that are coming out set.Thats why the Mariner is here.It was scheduled to come.Thats just the same why the Mountaineer is leaving. It is set to do so.It (they) have to wait their turn....
