Mean enough???
Mean enough???
I think That everyone will back me up in saying that our 4th gen fbods are some MEAN looking cars.
I know that retro is in right now... But this futuristic style that is coming along with it seems like it is just going to dampen the aggressive look of a a future camaro.
Whoever designs a 5th gen, if there is one. better be one CREATIVE ****.
It's gotta look, aggressive, sweet, up to date, and pioneered for the future, all at the same time... otherwise, GM will never put it into production against the mustang.
Me personally, I am all for GO before SHOW.... I KNOW we have the GO over the mustangs... but Gm has to look at it from a marketing point of view also, they have to sell the looks as well as the performance...
this whole chevy revolution.... they should have included the camaro.... I think it was a mistake not to...
I would definitely take a vette over a camaro if they were both free, But I am an average american, and I can't afford a corvette... So I love the car I CAN have, and that's the camaro.
american revolution my ***... what about the average american???????
they average american muscle car lover will end up turning to mustangs! (i want to choke for that one... ugh)

Relax and read this board once in a while. You'll have a pretty good idea of when the Camaro is coming back and what it will look like. Do a search on the past month as there have been several summarizations.

I can see the '93 to '97s having a somewhat mean look with it's recessed headlights and faux hoodscoops. But the 98s and later Camaros are spitting twins to Chrysler Concordes. The rear end of Camaro convertibles are carbon copies of Chrysler Sebring convertibles. Regardless as to which came out first, that association (along with a body that was dragged out for 10 years) makes the car far from aggressive unless you get the SS. And then it looks like a Concorde on steroids.
Firebirds look like a cross between a Probe and a Corvette.
Styling is all about opinion, and by a 3 to 1 margin, Ford's Mustang has it all over us. Sure, it's nice to wave the flag for the home team, but sometimes you have to admit when what the team is doing isn't working, and there's some tactics we gotta use from the other winning team.
A lot has already been written about the next "Camaro" (unofficially called Chevrolet's "Sports Coupe"), and if you do a search of topics of the past month, you will actually find out quite a wealth of information on the car.
I concur with GuionM.
The Camaro was too soft, and the TA was too boy-racer. I dont like the Mustang's styling at all, but I guess there are 3 other people out there that disagree. I dont think there is a single mustang design that strikes my fancy. The 5.0's just look flat out horrible. They look like a blind quadrapeligic 5 year old put it together with the body gaps and ...blah. That, combined with the sweet styling of the Escort GT, its a horribly designed car.
Third gens might not be fast, but at least they look good.
If anything, the third gens are more agressive with there body lines, fender flares, headlight pockets, broad-shouldered look to the wide-a$$ed end, UFO-like look of the 4th gens.
The 5th gen needs to pick up the pace left off by the lagging 4th gens.

While I think the 4th gen Firebirds were more aggressive looking than the Camaros, I had chance to run a school car show a few years ago. Basically we got dealer cars and showed them off during parents weekend (btw, the admin decided to pick woodward weekend to have this
).
Anyway we had a '02 Z28 T-tops, black. It looked sweet, but when we looked at it compared to the 2 Mustangs (a v6 and GT), it looked like it wanted to eat you, compared to the 'lets be friends' mustang look. Mind you, I wasn't the one who first noticed this, it was one of my friends who was(is) not a GM guy (or a ford guy for that matter).
So, personally I'd say they were aggressive, just not updated enough to keep everyone's attention.

4th gen SS's were aggressive looking as were the early 4th gen v6 and z28 models. But the 98-02 Camaros were too soft looking.
But when sitting next to a Mustang, I think this bland look still looks more aggressive than the Stang. The 99-04 Stangs sit too high and just have a very meak look to them compared to the low and wide stance the F-body has. Not trying to start a war, just stating my opinion (I can already feel the Ford guys glaring evilly at this post
) . I think we all can agree the 4th gen T/A's had an aggressive look to them, though a little overboard for some.
The 5th gen will def. have to have a much more aggressive look to it than the 4th gen's had. This includes ALL the models, not just the top of the line SS or Z28. BTW GM, v6 buyers like spoilers and (functional) hood scoops too!
Also guitardedjf, I believe the "Chevy sports coupe" will be included in the whole Chevy revolution. Just that it will be more of an icing on the cake.

I however, do believe that the 99+ Mustang GTs and Cobras are pretty hardcore badass in a way that the general public can overlook. The styling is subtle enough that the overly rich father of a 16 year old girl can see it as a good soft birthday present. Now lower that down and put some nice rims on it and you have one hell of a good looking car.
Should GM be listening, the mustang looked good UNTIL it went retro. I would buy a 2004 Mustang GT even if it cost more than an 08 retro Cam***. I want v8 RWD performance that looks mean, but not overkill.
Havent quite figured it out yet but most "guys" say the camaro is the better looking f-bod after 1998. I usually hear "the firebird tries too hard to be a muscle car" and so on. As over the top as the WS-6's are, I think theyre the best.
